MME is too expensive to have problems

There is a little of this attitude on this forum, but a lot more of it in other social media. The statements usually go something like, "I read about a lot of Mach-E owners having problems. I would not be happy if I paid that much for a car and had problems,"

Besides the obvious answer of "all first-year model vehicles have problems and people with problems are generally louder than those without," I add:

1. The Mustang Mach-E is not an expensive vehicle, especially not in comparison to other EV prices nor in comparison to other mid-luxury crossover SUV pricing. Compare what you can get for your dollar and get back to me
2. If you think expensive vehicles do not have problems, do not purchase a Maserati Quatroporte
3. If it's too expensive or too scary, buy another vehicle no one is forcing you to consider the MME

EVs in general are less reliable than gas cars. Technology takes time to mature, and most of the manufacturers seem to be in a hurry.

I don't agree with that statement. Almost everyone agrees that EVs are far more reliable than ICE vehicles. The data is overwhelming.

The main problem with the ev’s, people don’t know how to take care of them. They should be kept in a heated garage if below freezing. If to hot they should be preconditioned or left on all day when parked.

I put silicone on the top corners of the windshield to stop leaks. I also put double sticky back tape and a striped of rubber a crossed the top of the windshied to protect the roof.

Protect the 12 volt battery.

I love my electric vehicles.

Never owned a Jaguar - although I have lusted after them - but see my #2 in the first post.

Sticker price on my Mercedes ML55 AMG was higher than my GTPE and it was the worst quality vehicle I’ve ever owned. I can’t even list how many parts got changed on that car, some of which could have been my driving (front springs, ball joints, rear drag link), ha ha, but many not (infotainment system, brake lines, passenger seat motor, wiper linkage, etc.). Even though the 0-60 was a dog at 6.8 sec, the handling all the way up to 140 in an SUV was very impressive.

But, bottom line is the selling price has very little to do with “quality”.

1. $50k for a midsized crossover SUV is definitely expensive to the vast majority of Americans. Comparing to a Maserati doesn’t validate your point.
2. Some bugs are to be expected. But not all bugs are the same. Some are serious. Some are not. Some should be very easy to fix, others not so much. So you are drastically oversimplifying. For example, I’ve been waiting over 6mos just to be able to keep my interior motion sensors turned off. This isn’t a “serious” bug - it’s not gonna crash your car - but it also damned well shouldn’t take 6mos (and counting) to fix. It’s embarrassing. Ford should be embarrassed about that.

By the way, here is my message log TODAY, taking a road trip with kids for soccer. Fun times, let me tell you. This “@&^#+% motion sensor.

This is just one example. So please dial back the patronization just a tad.

I'm reading that this is recommended for EV's that don't have built in preconditioning for the battery when charging. Doesn't the MME have battery temp controls to help manage this? When looking at the Trips app I see power used by "external temp' management frequently in the summer.

I live in the Midwest, and my garage rarely if ever reaches below freezing. But still, I'm not interested in damaging the battery in the first new car I've ever purchased. ?

It is not the car that has any real problems. It is simply the software.
Let's be realistic. There is no comparison to an ICE vehicle of any kind; oil changes, gaskets, thermostats, exhaust systems, etc., etc. , etc.
Certainly Ford has made many mistakes technologically. Sure, that is a source of some grief.
It is a new frontier.
Are we not, in every sense of the word, pioneers? That involves risk and expense. The goal is a new world (not necessarily brave).
Patience is a virtue.
But the car is fantastic when all is said and done.

Looks like operator error. You can turn off both the motion sensor and the notifications in Ford Pass, by the way. And I'll say again, if $50K is expensive to you, then this is simply not the vehicle you should be buying. I suggest pricing a 2013 Flex.
