OTA Power Up 1.7.1 preview

I just got off the phone with a Ford rep and got some juicy details!

The reason I called them is I STILL haven't seen 1.4.0 or 1.6.0. I found out that since it's not considered a "major" update it's a slow rollout. So even now, 2 months later some of us just got left out... So idk if anyone here is in the same boat as me but I guess I lost that lottery.


But I also got news of a new update coming soon. It's the first one to be considered a "major" update (it's going to require the vehicle be off). It was originally scheduled for tomorrow, but it has been pushed back to Friday/Monday. I'm assuming it's 1.7.1 he's talking about. So barring it getting pushed back again, we should start seeing it soon!

It came with a certain fordpass version requirement. What version are you using?

I got 1.6, then 1.4. Have the latest FordPass on multiple devices. The switch for SecuriAlert is there (when I go in via the 8/27 Peace of Mind message, and everytime I toggle it on, it turns off and says "Sorry, FordPass isn't responding. Please try again later."

Of course FordPass is responding to everything else....

Eventually I will need to figure out the privacy settings on this vehicle (and app). Think it has something to do with the conductivity screen. I have auto updates off but the vehicle still downloads on the average of over 20 meg a day and sometimes over 200 meg. Upload is minimum? Will also need to understand the privacy settings of the app as privacy is a right and a law up here.

Fields are done and firewood is getting there. Have a few required trips but this winter should have time to start switching things off in the car (app) and determine the extent of privacy that can be achieved and see what functionality it looses to obtain it.

I hope they fix the Sirius XM favorite artist/song notifications. That has been my favorite feature in my past vehicles.

I would say you actually got someone that had some real info then. The update is sitting in Ford's system approved and ready to release but hasn't been given that final go yet.

This update is definitely going to be a big one, and possibly will be released over 3 OTA's. There are 20 modules that have updates coming with this as well as the new Sync UI version.

Completely agree. Hopefully with this push we'll finally see what a real OTA release is going to look like and what to expect going forward.

It is not public information, and I'm not looking to put someone's job in jeopardy with any more info than that. At this point ANY info is better than NO info that we've officially gotten from Ford. Even the Early Access team I have been in contact with has recently went silent.
