I’m waiting on my GT Order to come in through Town & Country Ford here in Charlotte. I’ve been working with Chris, and he let me know they had a canceled order come available if I wanted to cut the line.

My wife and I went down there this evening to test drive the GT and see if it was the car for us or if we’d wait for our order.

Not to spoil the program, but we’re passing on this particular GT and waiting for our order. If you’re interested, reach out to Chris or Q at T&C Ford. It’s listed on their site and on the sticker without ADM (no guarantees though).

Now for the test drive thoughts:
  1. It’s clearly way, way faster than the Premium LR I had previously driven. My wife’s (who wasn’t with me for the premium LR AWD test drive) reaction was “Oh Sh!t this is fast”. The car was at 42% SOC and man was it quick. I don’t have any hard numbers but the butt-o-meter was faster than anything else we’d been in.
  2. We’re not huge fans of the Miko Inserts. The seats really aren’t ActiveX (leather equivalent) with inserts, they’re really Miko seats with ActiveX trim. Not a deal breaker but be advised. The bolsters to hold you in place aren’t all that aggressive, will be quite comfortable on long drives.
  3. The bronze accents are well done. Breaks up the cabin nicely.
  4. We’re in the minority, but we are fans of the wheels. I think they look a bit more understated than the GTPE rims.
  5. The cabin felt noticeably more cramped without the glass roof. We’re glad our order has that option selected, and was the dealbreaker for us passing on this particular car.
  6. Wife called out how nicely the car rode down the road.
  7. Black is a fine, but not great, color for the car.
  8. When the car was in reverse, it has the usual “white noise” but also a beeping backup that’s not all that dissimilar from what you hear on delivery trucks. Very odd and a little much IMO. I don’t remember hearing it on my prior test drive.

If it’s really for sale with no ADM then I certainly wish I live in or near NC. I would pick It up even though I truly want a GTPE.

The way you describe the seats sounds very similar to the seats in my GT350 (non-recaros). That is a great thing as I find those seats incredibly comfortable.

Just wish they were cooled.

I actually purchased our MME long range premium from Chris about a month ago. He was GREAT to work with. I got lucky and saw the MME on the show room floor when I was there for work (Speedway Motorsports). It was for sale as bought it on the spot for sticker price. Whole transaction took less than 2 hrs!

If it wasn't black I would actually consider looking at this one. I "might" go test drive it to see/feel the difference from what I bought.

I am sure someone will scoop it up quickly!

Thanks,

Ken~

I told myself that I would never buy another car without cooled seats, but ultimately decided to make an exception for the mach E. Glad to hear your seats have held up!

For anyone interested. There is a GT available at Fairway Ford in Greenville SC.
Whoever ordered it never came thru to claim it. It may be available still at the dealership. No ADM also. $64400 on the sticker. Black.

The reverse beeping sound is mandatory here. Maybe it's something you can turn off in the settings? We can't!

The speaker is located under the front of the car, and there are other posts in this forum about ways to reduce or eliminate the beep. My favorite solution is replacing the speaker with a resistor. Some have just muffled the speaker by covering it with cardboard. When my MME arrives, I plan to put a potentiometer in line with the speaker so I can control the volume - from off to full volume.

The only way to silence the reverse beeping is to disconnect the speaker/alarm. You have to drop the diaper panel. The speaker/horn is hanging from a bracket. Remove the quick disconnect connector from the speaker /horn. Cover and stow the connector. I don't know if the disconnection of the horn will set up a warning or a failure notice on your main screens. Do it on your own and find out what happens.
Good luck.

The diaper panel is fwd of the rear bumper cover. I know this because I installed a hitch on me MME and had to work around the speaker/horn assy.

Please don’t disable safety features on the car.

I can’t be the only one who’s almost been hit by one of those “sneaky” Tesla’s or Prius’s in a parking lot.

While I agree in principle, I do think it's overkill to make the car sound like an 18-wheeler backing up. Recent Toyota Hybrids (RAV4 and Highlanders in particular) are loud and definitely noticeable but a bit more tasteful than the BEEP-BEEP-BEEP that's synonymous with larger trucks.

I doubt those seats had leather trim. In her interview with Munro, Donna Dickson who is in charge of the Mach E program, was very proud that the Mach E is "vegan" meaning that there are no animal parts anywhere in the car. This includes the non-leather seats.

Sorry, ActiveX, Ford's vegan leather. I will update the OP accordingly. FWIW, I think ActiveX feels pretty good and consider it a leather-equivalent. My original point still holds true... There's too much Miko and not enough ActiveX for my preference.

Maybe if they made the sounds customizable. Like instead of a “beep” it could make fart noises.
