Costs more.
At my local Subway, the Italian B.M.T. costs more than the Spicy Italian, but contains less protein and has yucky smelly ham. Yet they're both sandwiches offered on the menu and built by the same "artists." ?‍♂

Why would a reasonable person assume "GT" is an upgrade to "Premium"?
Costs more.
Also because people are trained to see the horizontal layout of feature stacks as increasing from left to right, with each option being a step up from the previous. Not Ford's fault there, it's a very common UX for selecting between options or tiers when making a purchase. But easy for most folks to assume and overlook, as most will not pull up the full detailed options tables and compare every feature... or they'll quickly skim them because so many are similar and miss the differences.

I guess I wasn’t clear. I meant that some may assume that the best features on a non-GT would be carried forward to the higher-end models.

Yeah that's fair I suppose.

Personally my expectation is for GT to move the product up the performance driving scale, and Premium to move it up the luxuries and general tech scale. I see them as separate axes, not linearly aligned.

The main reason I ordered a Premium versus a GT is the fact that all the "stuff" I wanted in a car was costing a lot extra in the GT, oh and the insurance aspect was ridiculous.
I will be happy eventually with my Premium whenever I do get it and will not miss the extra acceleration and GT badges.

As an older person, I would presumr that ”Premium“ is the luxury model with lots of bells and whistles. I would presume “GT” is the performance version. As an older person, to me performance ≠ luxury, and in many cases from a luxury perspective performance < luxury. There are lots of cases where the performance version of a car had insulation delete, heater delete, and/or radio delete because weight is detrimental to performance. I am not sure if that is a “reasonable“ way to look at it, but *to me* it is logical.

I admit that I wasn’t aware there so many options to choose on a GT. For the Premium it was trim, color, drive type, battery capacity and mats. My MME was was for my wife which made range and luxury the priority.

I believe that, for some “real” performance car buyers, some of the “extra luxury” stuff may not be desirable, as it would be viewed as either adding weight, or limiting the driver’s ability to completely control the vehicle (hence, the glass roof being an option). That may have been Ford’s thinking to appeal to the old-school “I don’t need any of this automation stuff, just give me all the torque and HP in as low-weight a car as possible! Oh, and here are my paddle shifters? I need my paddle shifters! How can I change gears without my paddle shifters!” ???

Actually, I’ll bet they were simply trying to hit a cost target with the GT.

The model to look at would be very high-end cars that go stupid-fast that don't have any cup holders. One would assume if a Ferrari costs 10 times the cost of a Honda Fit, it would have at least one more cup holder.

Cup holders:
Honda Fit , 4
Ferrari, 0

Forward cameras:
MME GT, 0
Ferrari, 0

Ford's getting closer to Ferrari with each passing day. The race is not settled after all.

That sucks man sorry. I feel like that front camera is a must with the GT and that front lip spoiler. Already nearly hit a few curbs in first day not realizing how far out that lip sticks and how low it is.

I always thought the GT just meant a louder engine.
