When I ordered in mid-June, the site indicated 24+ week wait time, so I was planning to wait until December, and maybe even get 2022 model. But I guess I pulled a lucky number and my car is already in the train coming from Mexico, so if everything goes as it should, I will get it before November and after 4.5 months since I placed the order.

Is my experience more common than I think? Or it's more common to wait longer, and maybe even much longer?

Thanks for sharing!

The poll could be a bit skewed, but there’s no real way around that imo. There are still a lot of launch day customers and those who made reservations well before ordering ever started here. Our waits were around 15 months or so.

I don't know much about reservations vs orders - let's get some stats based on order date for now, OK?

As someone who has waited more than 5 months with no production date, I have no idea how to answer this.

I don't know either, and I didn't answer myself since I don't have the car yet. I guess I am targeting people who already have their cars... and the ones who are waiting more than 9 months or stopped waiting.

Premium AWD ER order date of 06/23/21. I have an order number and received a message from Ford saying my 2021 was being upgraded to a 2022 with no change in my place in the queue. I went to the dealer and changed the color to Cyber Orange (was not available on the 2021 Premium trim). My order on Ford's site reflects all the updates.

Still no scheduled production date.

However I believe the Premiums are victims of the semiconductor shortage. Honestly, it would serve me better to take ownership in 2022 for tax purposes because the credit is nonrefundable. Too late now for me make a meaningful change in my withholdings.

It's non-refundable against your tax liability. This is unrelated to your paycheck withholdings.

I ordered 2/27 and should be picking it up today, 10/27 - 8 months later.

They'll come later today when there's some sunlight. It was dark when we picked it up, so no good pictures!

You may be misunderstanding the tax credit. It is based off your tax liability. What you have withheld is irrelevant. It is non-refundable to the extent you don’t have tax liability. If you only have $5000 of tax liability, the credit is worth only $5000. Making your effective tax $0. If you have $10,000 of tax liability and withheld $11,000 you will get a refund of $8500–the $7500 tax credit plus the $1000 extra you had withheld. This makes your effective tax $2500.
