Well apple is making them completely useless for tracking stolen devices so this is probably the only use left for them now?.
It's important to understand how a real faraday cage works. You can't just "block" a radio signal, the cage needs to be grounded to dissipate the signal and not let it in. Most commercial blocker bags etc just add extra radiators to the field and make it require more signal strength. But make no mistake; they will not block a strong enough signal unless you ground them (which is impractical for a portable solution). The recent property crime spree is making a lot of news and sorta insane, but wouldn't it be easier for said thieves to just go to any upscale neighborhood and steal from literally every single house with a nice car in the driveway by doing that amplifier remote key unlock/start thing (I assume that's what they are doing)?
Maybe any area that is non-gated to make it easier? Also, won't the car be in a garage if it's a wealthy person's car?
Reading the article, it sounds like they are just tracking 'nicer' cars so they can do that remote key amplifier steal thing.
If anyone has suggestions for a rock solid RF bag/box, please share. I have a few RF blocking bags/backpacks and I've noticed that it doesn't really block it 100%.
