You can simply go to the store and buy a plug. Just would have to limit it to around 40 amps due to the plugs 50 amp rating. Just like with chargepoint if currant limiting is capable on this unit

Numerous posts here of problems, two that are at the top of my mind:

1) Station loses connection with the internet, can't reestablish it.

2) Neither Ford Support, nor dealer, knows squat about it. Non-existent support per posts here.

Thanks I will definitely cross off my list if I wire one in.

Several other things to consider:

1) Does your utility company provide a rebate for a charger, and if so is it brand/model specific? Some are, because they tap into the data. I got $500 back.

2) The Ford Connected Charging Station has a 20 foot cord. Some have a 25 foot cord.

The max current can be set via DIP switches.

I don’t think it’s any different than the Mach-E itself. A vocal minority have these same complaints about the car!?
It’s a private-labeled Webasto EVSE. Mine has worked perfectly since day 1 (February).

Can you raise and lower the current via the app? Or is it only controllable with DIP switches?

My JuiceBox 48 charger is up to 48amps. I can simply change the setting in the app and it's at the new setting. I use it at 32amps, because I don't need more 99% of the time. If I come back from somewhere and have inadequate charge for something upcoming, I can easily change it to 48amps and then back down again.

No, not settable in the app. If that’s a desire, the FCCS is not what you want.
My answer was in the context of the user wanting to use a 50A cord and plug instead of hard-wire. In order to be code-compliant, the max current must be hardware-limited to correspond with the wiring method. It’s not compliant to wire a 48A EVSE to a 50A circuit and use the app to only charge at 40A.

Spend the extra $$$ on a ChargePoint Home Flex and charge worry-free.

With respect to @RickMachE's question, it can be current limited via the FordPass app, up to the maximum that the installer specified from the dip switches.

Here's mine:
