Unless this has changed, the dealer just has to accept the order when it comes to them from Ford's system. They don't have to contact you to place an order (though some seem to want to).
This is my understanding also.

My dealer did require me to come in person just to watch the sales guy click the “order” button. That was a dealership thing, not Ford. That was a total waste of my time, but that’s about the only negative thing I can say about my experience.

I didn't go into or have any communication with my dealer for them to accept my order.

I believe it's changed to prevent dealer fraudulently ordering cars. Both of my orders required signing order sheets with the dealer (online) with the front and back of my driver's license upload to them.

Back in the spring/summer, I heard there wasn't even a deposit needed.

I didn't get into any back and forth with my dealer, but when it came time for my reservation to turn into an order, they did send some kind of final confirmation through the Ford website of the options I wanted (that's how I added the interior protection package, which did not exist at the time reservations opened in November 2019) - I added that option, and also fixed a mistake to the interior color, and submitted the order.

Maybe this step doesn't exist now that reservations are no longer a thing and it is straight to order.

We have to call due to the sheer number of builds we get. Only about 4 in 10 actually end up ordering.
Is this just your dealership’s policy or is Ford now requiring this for all dealerships?

i just ordered another one today :) . On the site when it says "order accepted", that means the dealer has already submitted the order to Ford, correct? There is nothing left to do ( already got in writing xplan, no msrp markup, and deposit refundable), right?

My first one i bought off a lot from an abandoned order, so didnt go through this process. Thanks!

I gave up on placing my order through the Ford website, and placed the order over the phone with my dealer. The good news is that they didn't charge me a deposit. I beat the price increase coming in the next few days.
Did your dealer confirm that you are now price protected since you put your deposit down before the price increase?

No, but they are solid folks who don't mess around with me. I don't expect any problems. We'll see in six months.

I spoke with Ford Marketing and they said the dealer's cost is locked in as of the day they put the order in, which is based on MSRP on that day. Assuming you have your order in before any price increase, any attempt at the dealer moving up price at delivery would just be them attempting to gouge. I sent them the price from the order sheet and had them confirm that starting price, applicability of xplan on that price, and that the deposit was 100% refundable.

It is part of the Custom Order Verification Program (COVP) which all dealers have to do. Whenever you get a custom order, you have to get the signed WBDO spec sheet and a scan of the customers drivers license and send it to Ford so they can verify the order. If a dealership fails to do this Ford ends up heavily penalizing their allocation. The COVP program has only bee around for the past 18 months or so.

That definitely wasn't the case when the order banks for the MME initially opened in mid-2020. But it does make sense to have some level of verification around the order process.

I ordered through the Ford website back in March (car arrived July). All I needed to do was spec out the car to my liking, choose a dealership, put down a $500 deposit and that was it. Nothing to sign. No need to go to the dealership. The only contact I had was to verify that the deposit was refundable (it was) and confirmation email the order was accepted.

Maybe the order process has changed recently? ?‍♂

They started doing it whenever the Bronco order banks opened I think. It was a measure to keep dealerships from ordering under fake customers to try and get stock units.

Just try contacting the site operator and ask them what's the matter. It often happens that you could have been entered into the wrong database, and because of this, you may have problems when buying a car. When I was planning to buy a house myself, I consulted with greedyrates.ca, and the experts explained to me such a problem when employees of a bank or another company make mistakes when filling out documents. That is why it is necessary to carefully check the documents after all parties have filled them out and only then sign something

I went to the dealership and ordered on the website from there. They weren't able to order it on their system because it is always down. But I walked out with a purchase agreement with the MSRP and all of the fees spelled out on it so they couldn't realistically try to surprise me with markup when it arrives.

I managed to place my order last week online without any additional effort on the part of the seller. It was the first time I ordered from this company, and they refused me. But this happened because the company issuing my loan agreement did not recognize the transactions. After I confirmed the success of the order and said that I would be logged in, the order was completed a second time. I also contacted the support service, and they offered me this option. About money, I advise you to read here radicalfire.com to understand what problems there may be. I also do not exclude the possibility of technical problems of the site. Good luck!
