I have noticed a few times within the past few weeks when launching the FordPass app at random times that there is a banner in the app that states that Preconditioning is in-progress on my MME. This is happening at times that are at like 10:00 p.m. when I do not have any departure times scheduled. Has anyone else seen this occurring and/or have any idea why the preconditioning message might be showing well outside of my scheduled departure times? Is it possible that it is notifying me of that because it is warming the battery or something on cold nights or is this possibly just an erroneous message? I did check the cabin of the vehicle once when I saw the message late at night and it definitely did not seem to be warming the cabin or anything like that.

The screenshot below is from 10:24 p.m. CST last night, but my next scheduled departure time was not set until 7:10 a.m. this morning... ?

Is it cold? The battery needs a long time to prepare for departure if it is really cold, so I'd assume its taking that into account and slowly getting it to temp for use.

I mean, it is cold here in Chicago this time of year, but does the battery really spend about 9 hours warming itself gradually to prepare for departure times? This is not so much a concern and I absolutely 100% understand the loss of range in cold weather and all that. This is more of a curiosity than anything.

Yeah, I understand. Hopefully someone who knows for a fact can chime in. I know Ford says to keep your car plugged in so they can properly regulate the battery temp, even when the car is fully charged, without it drawing on the battery. Maybe it is just maintaining the battery at a "safer" level, not really getting it to the full, ready to drive level, but enough so it isn't super cold?

If the vehicle is charged to the level set by the owner....and it is plugged into a live EVSE.....and inside the charge schedule window......and the HVB temps falls below or rises above set points determined by Ford, then the car will warm or cool the battery until the HVB temp returns to an acceptable level.

I hope Ford would remove 2 of the first 3 conditions above. The battery temp should be managed if the car is parked on plug irregardless of charge percentage or charge schedule.

When the car is managing the HVB temp by using shore power.......I see a message on FordPass that says "Preparing for Drive" or something to that effect. The message in the original post might be another glitch in FordPass. I am curious to see what it says on the front page. There should be a banner there also.... ?

Haven’t had that happened but my preconditioning has been acting up. This morning it pulled 3KW ish for like 25min from the house but the cabin was a nice and toasty 40F when I got in-so not really sure what it was doing. Tomorrow it will probably work fine. My problem started when I turned preconditioning off for a week then back on. It hasn’t acted right since then…
