This is the first recall that is somewhat mandatory correct? On one hand my car being in the showroom means that its not exposed to the elements, someone is basically babysitting it all day with sales people walking all over, but it also means that others could sit in it and potentially dent it. There is no way to know but if the recall fix is a real quick turn around (being it looks like the same bolts were on the Maverick this is not MME specific parts), not terrible. But, if this is some 3-4 week ridiculousness, they better put a car cover on it and but in long term storage haha.
I have to say, I freaked out a little when I saw that they had it in the showroom. I don't want to freak you out any more than you probably already are, but I have seen people set things on cars and sit on cars in showrooms. Too bad you cannot tell them "not touching" lol!

Gang - Just found out that (a) my E is on a truck from KC to MN, and (b) it is part of the recall to come. Should arrive in 1-2 days.

Re my earlier reply to Gonner54, I may have misheard my dealer say they can’t SELL it to me - maybe she said they can’t let me TAKE DELIVERY. I normally use these terms interchangeably but I’d like to get any thoughts that dealer-knowledgeable folks might have on this distinction before I go back to my dealer and beg them to sell me the car. And also arrange FordOption financing. And not let anyone sit in it. ?

FWIW, I have a great dealer but don’t know if that will help if Ford says no SALE. Thanks.
The dealer told me that they cant list the car with Ford as sold on their end if there is an open recall, which would preclude them from selling it to you then taking delivery later.

Tell them to get it out of the dealership, outside is probably safer than everyone touching the car , except is a snow storm or hurricane

Ford notified dealers of a needed seatbelt repair involving certain new Mach-E SUVs, triggering a hold on any undelivered new vehicles built from Oct. 5 to Nov. 18.
Ford spokesperson Said Deep confirmed Monday that 2,304 Mach-E vehicles are affected by the recall. Of that number, 741 are in customer hands and 1,563 are on hold by dealers, he said. The problem was due to supplier's seatbelt anchor bolt malfunction, and that Ford will produce a complete repair bulletin on the parts and fix for the dealer's to implement, in first week of Jan 2022. $21K fine for each vehicle if they let it go without repair.
Anyone pick up on that its anywhere from 6-12 weeks after the cars are built and only 30% have been actually picked up? Not a great track record on the shipping front.

I have to think this is the appropriate dealer response as they can't say "Not Sold", yet you paid them money and started a financing agreement. The only way I think this could happen would be paying 100% cash, and then selling / buying the car from them again in 2022. I don't think possible and we are just out of luck. I stopped tracking my car as doesn't really matter at this point.

Rats, that makes sense. Thanks, though, for the input!

What did Ford give certain people earlier this year when there was a delay with their orders? Free charging? Any other precedents that might apply to this situation, that folks can think of?

Found an article that says Ford offered an additional 250 kWh of free charging, with a value of roughly $78. Woo-eee.

My dealer just said that we could maybe sign the paperwork before 2022 and then accept delivery after

The pleasure and excitement of purchasing a new vehicle is literally being sucked out of this experience ! Now all I feel is frustration from this latest delay that affects me too.

Seriously, all pandemic and parts shortages aside, Ford really screwed up on the premier release of this vehicle. And the lack of information provided to the customer along the way is unacceptable. Do you know how close I came to purchasing a Tesla ? This is how a company looses loyal customers.

And, last but not least, who is going to pay for a new set of tires when I finally pick up my GT PE in January? You do realize that after sitting outside in winter temperatures for one month (more than one month if you consider transportation), that my summer performance tires will be trashed. The rubber compounds will be compromised from constant exposure to temperatures below freezing and especially below 20F, causing degradation and cracking. They will not even be safe to drive on due to lack of traction. Has Ford or any of the dealers considered this safety issue, and the fact that the OEM tires will be damaged at the time of delivery to the customer?

Are the managers at Ford Headquarters on autopilot ?

I do not understand how my car with a build week of Oct 4 is still on chip hold, when build weeks after are getting deliveries. Maybe it’s due to this new issue and they just didn’t want to disclose? I am really frustrated by the lack of transparency from Ford about where things are and how they are prioritizing vehicles. My dealer just tells me the same thing every time i follow up. They are just as clueless.

I’m very interested in if my car is affected. While many in the 10/11 build week saw their delivery grind to a halt, mine made it to my CLT dealership by 12/8, and I completed the transaction on 12/10.

I wonder if they let some cars through that didn’t get a bad batch, or maybe I was just lucky.

It’s just my wife and I with no kids, so we’ll keep driving the car with no issues since the stop sale is rear seat related

Welcome to the forums and to our very special 10/4 chip hold group! Feel free to rant and rave with us in our thread as well.
In all seriousness, it properly sucks but I keep the faith that the wait is worth it based on the feedback from many of the members here.
