With the Shelby model in the wings, I'm sure "they" are holding back on the power. I just can't see them selling the electric faster then the IC Shelby GT500. In another few years when the Shelby GT500 and Mach E's are out we should (hope) be able to upgrade out MME GT PE"s. Still love my 2012 GT500 and am taking delivery of my 2021 MME GT PE next week.

Throwing in my two cents. I love my GTPE and it is super quick. And I'm comparing to my Dodge Viper. I track my Viper and have no intention to track my Mach E.
Regardless its annoying that a performance edition has such a limitation. I am hoping for an OTA update to fix.
I appreciate that you have a Viper and can compare the GTPE driving experience at all to that Snek. Very cool.

I have a MMEGTP ordered, still loving my MMESRAWD. I turn my upper lip a bit when I think of the "5 Second Rule". But for what I personally do in everyday driving, I will not really have the space or the road to use the car at full strength for 5 seconds. That would realistically have us traveling at some 80 miles an hour or so if the car goes 0-60 in 3.5. So when I think of that, I think the 5 seconds is fine. But I am not one who is going to the track. I just love banging off of red lights.

If you can find a way to test drive one, it’ll answer all your questions.

The 5 second thing sucks, for the drag strip or the highway.

But “on the street” as you say, you won’t be racing more than 5 seconds. And very very few cars will be anywhere close on the street after 5 seconds.

And if you order one, you won’t be anywhere near 80k.

My GTPE with every option and x plan cost $61k after $7500 tax credit. 2022 pricing would be $64k.

I really really want them to fix the 5 seconds. But in real world driving, it’s rarely going to limit what you can do.
I haven't been able to find a GT to drive. I have driven the Rt1 and the Premium and both delivered solid driving experiences, absolutely.

I deal with extreme ADM in the bay area, and dealerships that won't accept X Plan on "desirable" vehicles... So while X Plan is a thing, I fully expect to see $80k for the GTPE. Hopefully not, but.. it wouldn't surprise me. The Rt1 I drove had 12,000~ miles on it and had a sticker for $62,999.................

Find another dealer and order one. ADM only seems to happen when people buy cancelled orders and can’t wait.

Even if you’re just thinking about it, find a dealer who will do a refundable deposit. They want you to order because if you cancel they sell one at a premium. And get the agreed price in writing.

Worst case you don’t take delivery and get your deposit back.

I did just "order" one actually on the Ford website, and selected a dealership that I have worked with in the past that has, well, decent ethical practices (it is still a stealership after all). I got an e-mail from the MME specialist at the dealership and I did tell him I did not want to pay ADM so, we'll see how far I get ...

Wondering if anyone heared about possibly ford allowing more then 5sec full power on the gt performance or is someone making a software upgrade(chip) ?
Class action lawsuit. I would not have bought the GTPE if the 5 second power off was disclosed. Any lawyers on our forum please comment. Remember in disclosure all emails must be produced and the smoking gun would be "keep our power down from any possible loss in sales."

Like launch control on gas cars.
You have it .rarely or never use it but it is there.they are recorded for negligent users.i have extended right now and have 2022 gtpe on order seriously thinking of passing on it.
Performance should not be performance !
I love my gtpe for what it is and hate it for what it’s not. 0-80, friggin fun! After that, feels like I shifted into overdrive in a late 80’s Cadillac. Handles like a Porsche, seats 4 comfortably, great sound system but has spent more time in the shop than Madonna has in fish nets. At 70k, I’d wait for them to figure out how to put the whole package together. Maybe the 2023-24 model. I’ll likey sell mine when my registration comes due (cost $1600 here in Colorado).

It is a stock color 2012 Ingot Silver Metalic, (382 made), 4834 total build. I couldn't find the number of Red Stripe cars.

Never seen a GTPE number that slow.

All in the 3.6-3.7 range with 1’ rollout. 3.7-3.8 without the rollout.

I’ve seen one 3.5, and that was on a prepped track. So it’s definitely possible with no wheel spin.

I always spin on the street. Twice actually. Once at launch and again around peak tq (35 mph) which definitely slows you down.

Our GT is usually slower than that, but it is very cold up here, so half of our power is locked out all the time anyways

Well of course you can make it slower by running in extreme conditions, but what would be the point of that?
