I've done some searching to no avail, so I apologize if this has been answered.

The last 4 or 5 times I've driven my MME, it has randomly shown an alert message saying "Approaching Maximum Speed" and then it quits accelerating. You can floor it but no response, just flat at the speed you were at. This is not at excessive speeds, say between 50 and 70 mph. Most times I have noticed it was on freeway onramps/offramps. It's quite unsettling to all of the sudden lose your ability to accelerate in traffic.

Is there some setting I am missing? Is it seeing a speed limit sign or something like that? Blue Cruise/Adaptive Cruise/Lane Keeping was not active at the time. I think I have the wording of the message right but not positive as it flashes up and disappears very quickly.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks for any input!

Seems unusual. I know from experience that the MMe 4x has a max speed (electronically limited) of 113mph. [For all legal hawks, this was reached in a controlled access, non-public road within all legal limits] I've never seen it push this alert myself. Some sort of hardware-induced electronic limit? Possibly due to temp? Were there any faults, malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), or other visible concerns when it happened besides the warning?

No other faults that I have seen, and it returns to normal within a minute or so.

For clarification, are you getting the approaching maximum speed message at or near normal freeway speeds? That just not right. I’ve had my Premium 4Ex up to maximum speed without getting that message.

mid yiu find nothing in my key, it dealer time I’d say.

At normal freeway speeds, although maybe above posted limits. The last two times were on either an offramp or onramp. Mine is also a Premium 4E.

I was using MyKey, I'll look through there to see if there is a related setting.
Absolutely Ford MyKey has a maximum setting.

It's likely too late - but a warning. Ford MyKey requires an administrative key to change the settings. If you have two fobs, you're fine. If you don't, you may have just hosed yourself and have to go to the dealer to get it reset.

Try clearing Mykey, if that doesn’t work, I’d be inclined to chat with your dealer.

I do have two fobs. I will go do more research on this. Pretty new to the MyKey.

Unless you have a driver that you want to limit functionality with, there is ZERO reason to use MyKey. Many people have hosed themselves with it.

Agreed.

That error message OP described does sound like what you get with MyKey if you set a (reduced) maximum speed. I recall seeing something similar with my kid driving when I had his speed reduced.

This certainly sounds like the MyKey software is active in the car. Does the radio turn on when the seatbelts are not fastened?

He's acknowledged that and reset MyKey already.
