I may skip the Ioniq 5 altogether if I can find a GTPE at a reasonable markup. I figure that’s what I want and not a “luxury sedan” which is what the Hyundai feels like to me.

If you need an EV now and can live with an SE and SEL with fewer features than a Mach-E Premium… it is good choice.
You should be able to find a GTPE for like $3-5k over MSRP or hell get really lucky and find unicorn if you’re not picky on color.

I’m seeing markups between $5-8K. The ones that are $15K to $20K I completely gloss over lol.

Yeah I guess it depends where you are, too. Near me $3-5k but a Miami dealer wanted $20k over lol I said good luck selling it…but Im sure some jackass will walk in and pay it.

$20K in Miami... $15K in Tampa

https://www.billcurrieford.com/new-Tampa-2021-Ford-Mustang+Mach+E-GT-3FMTK4SXXMME04236

$10K in Alabama

The further I go up north... the lower the markup.. lol.

Like you said.. somebody will pay it. I will see what happens with my orders in a month or so.

I paid $7k markup for my GT and don’t regret it. I looked for months at dealerships within 1000 miles of me to find it as well. I’m in Denver.

Meh. The Ioniq is ugly. If road tripping is a high enough priority that you’d rather drive this dorkmobile, that’s cool, but it ain’t for me. Also, I don’t even use my frunk but I was still embarrassed for that train wreck under the Ioniq’s hood.

Oh, and by the way, I’m the lucky owner of that MME’s Grabber Blue twin. Same dealership a few days apart. I was actually initially slated to own that specific vehicle but it arrived first instead of second and @Mach-E VLOG had dibs on the first arrival!

I would prefer the EV6 over the IONIQ5 but still like the MME better than both of them! Noticed he couldn’t resist taking a shot at PAAK but can’t blame him for that based on my own personal PAAK experience!! Lol

I knew he would not recommend the Mach E, but he did come close to it.

If you cannot get this one, get that one...... He hates the Mach E. He always finds faults with it.... whether handling, ride and charging, seats (now), (Last one was Cost), every review he finds something wrong with it, but he must be getting some pressure to sort of recommend it. I found this review quite funny.

He said the apps were similar.

I have the Hyundai App for my Ioniq. Its very basic. Nothing like Fordpass, as quirky and challenging as Fordpass is.....

No Secure Alert, Journeys or trip data, EV driving data, tire pressure warnings, no Windows up/Down, no charging locations, no trip planning, you cannot set charging to stop at a certain battery % (may be a limitation of my car), you can only have two departures and charge schedules, there are no logs (like charge logs), no link to Owners manual etc

No wireless carplay, no bluecruise, no PAAK on the Ioniq 5 either.

I do have an alert or geofence in my Hyundai system that alerts me when my wife is within 1/4 miles of me. It does tell me if my doors are locked, which I miss from Fordpass and is a miss in my mind.

He likes the GTPE.

But he is fair with the harsher ride. The Mach-E and Model Y are noticeably firmer than the Ioniq 5. He’s finishing up an Ioniq 5 range test and from what I’ve seen from forums so far… the AWD with 20” range is poor but he tested AWD 19” so let’s see if that is even close to the Mach-E ER range. My guess is no.

I can never keep it straight if this one is the Kia or the Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 and EV6 are both basically appliances while the Mach-E is a vehicle you get because you are into cars and it’s more than about getting from Point A to Point B.

It’s like comparing a name brand shirt to a no-brand shirt from Costco on value and functionality. Totally misses the point. If you want the name brand, things like value and durability aren’t really a priority. If you don’t care about the aesthetics much and don’t care about having the brand name, the designer label is a waste of money.

I suppose they don’t have that many EVs to compare to yet, but a much more natural comparison for the EV6 and Ioniq 5 would be the upcoming Ford Escape EV and Chevy Equinox EV, not the Mach-E.

That comment leads me to believe that you haven't watched many reviews of the Ioniq 5 or EV6.

"Much more refined in terms of sportiness" .... wth does this even mean?

Mr. Spec is very gifted at knowing & recalling every vehicle spec but his capacity to express what he is experiencing in a vehicle is very marginal. I seldom learn anything of value from his free-form rambles, the quote above being a prime example.
This….. I get it opinions shift over time but his target of what is good just seems to be constantly shifting.
Not to mention there were a couple videos he’s posted where he was a bit of a dick to his girlfriend when she was trying to express her own opinion; kind of off-putting.

I am interested to see the final EV6 GT when it arrives later this year. Could be nice if done right, and as long as it doesn't take a huge range hit.
