Fordpass updated. Don’t know what else changed. I know you don’t suspect software @DevSecOps but it smells like it to me, though admittedly diagnosing cars is not my specialty

The signal that the car didn't start a charge comes from the car, not from FordPass. FordPass only relays the message in way that is consumable.

Believe what you wish though. I thought Santa was real because packages magically appeared every Christmas.

It's like the magic of open trunk. Then try open driver door nope. Wait 30 seconds yup. The other 7/10 times, the door can be opened. Fob in pocket when walking up. So now I open door first, then trunk the close trunk, get in. If I remember.
