VW ID.4 Unveiled Today

I wish I could tell you guys something about the towing, roof rails, racks. It has been brought up so many times in meetings. All we get is yes the match e will have and working with after market companies on many different options. Sorry

A roof rack is fine for me for bikes. Thule will have one pretty quickly after the cars hit the street. A bike hitch rack would be better when they arrive. With a bike roof rack though, there is a huge precaution to take. Remove the front wheel from your bike and put it in your front passenger seat. Seriously. That should remind anyone approaching their garages with a that there's a 58 cm Cervelo mounted to the roof. There are few things, not many, that I've learned from others' mistakes.

In the meantime, I'll just toss the bikes in the back of my wife's Raptor ...

399 lease is what is going to grab the eyes of people who can't afford to buy, but want to drive one.
I think its 399.99 for 3 years for 10,000 miles a year.

For comparison, just checked what's currently offered on the Bolt...
$239/Month for 36 months. $1,629 due at signing $0 security deposit.
I think I like the ID.4 better, but that is a significant price difference and the Bolt has better 0-60 time...

Bolt is a smaller car. Bolt doesn't even have adaptive cruise control, let alone lane centering. And then there's the 50kW DCFC.

I don't know how to put a price tag on these items. But I'm definitely not buying a car without adaptive cruise control and lane centering.

I don't know how many ID.4 first was available for US. But it's apparently sold out now.

The first edition sold out. Don't know about the other version. Given the low deposit to hold the rez, it's not surprising. It'll be interesting to see just how many of those reservations convert to real cars in the driveway.

Understood. However, even if we install aftermarket hitches, we still don't know what the tow rating will be. That's a Ford call.

Well as per Ford in Norway it will 750 kg max and nothing on the roof. Hook can take 75 kg vertically like for bike rack.

In Norway, yes, and probably the rest of the EU. However, US regulations and standards on towing are different than those in the EU. Currently Ford has stated they won't offer a tow hook in the US market, unlike in EU. However, if they don't even publish towing specifications, it will significantly limit the use of the vehicle for towing even light loads in the US.

Actually the blue on the ID.4 is far better IMHO - it looks similar to Ford's Kona blue. But, I like dark colors and the grabber blue is too much like baby blue for my taste
