.... or I need a tire sponsorship for Mach N Cheese.

I do drive my car hard and I've taken it on several canyons along the way, including up Angeles Crest Highway in SoCal. But I really have shredded my tires. (it's even wear and rears are worn too).

I'm investigating what to get, but definitely need something more durable than the OEM P-Zeros I think. And maybe I need to not keep smoking everyone at every stoplight ....

Anyhow the Discount Tire guys on this board are investigating for me whether the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 SUV in 255/45R-20 (that little thicker size will fit on my OEM rims) with a 105 load index might be a good idea. I think this car is heavy enough that an SUV-specific performance tire suited to a heavy performance SUV might be a good idea for a replacement.

Anyone else had as much fun as me in 4300 miles? Anyone with opinions on this Pilot Sport 4 SUV, esp versus the PS 4S version of this tire?

Less the load index for tread life as much as you want a higher Tread Wear rating, but that comes at the cost of grip - as least to my understanding.
But on these heavy damn cars may help.
What is the treadwear rating on the OEM tires?
The Conti DSW06+ I just had installed have a TreadWear rating of 560

I did a little investigating:

OEM Pzeros: Treadwear of 280

Mich PS 4S 255/45 have a TW of 300
Mich PS 4 SUV 255/45 have a TW of only 220

Your Conti DSW06+ are all-seasons. I don't need all-seasons where I live (doesn't rain a lot, temps aren't under 45 much, when they are, I'm not driving anywhere generally in the middle of the night). But your treadwear rating sounds better at 560.

I'm willing to give up some durability for grip. But I should maybe also consider something like what you put on to have a higher treadwear ..... I don't need to eat tires this much!

I was waiting for this tire wear subject to unfold. The narrow tires + heavy weight. I use to have one of the first (heavy) Porsche Cayennes, having to replace tires once a year. Every 12,000 miles. Both Pirelli P Zeros and then Michelins. Terribly expensive, and now I was wondering if these narrow e-car tires would wear the same. Hope not, but would t surprise me.

I drive my car a less aggressive because I'm a bad driver lol.

One time I was turning mildly and almost floored and felt the rear tires lose grip so ever so slightly, maybe a half second or less and felt the rear swing just barely. I thought the traction control wouldn't let me do that.

I regained control almost instantly by straightening wheel and less acceleration. How close was I to losing control? Haven't gone that hard since.

Thank you for reading!

We had a 1st Gen Cayenne, too. It absolutely ate tires, but man was it fun to drive. I still can't figure out how Porsche made a car that heavy feel so nimble.

Today I dived into the pits and had installed Continental Extreme Contact DSW06 Plus in 255/45-R20 on my stock GTPE rims. These have a higher load rating (105 vs 103) and much higher tread wear rating (560 vs 280) than the original Pirelli P-Zero Elect tires. These are all-seasons, which isn't probably a bad thing with fall and winter nighttime temps and occasional rain in the Bay Area.

I also installed Corvette jack pads (modified ever so slightly to fit in the holes) for the front, and Tesla jack pads for the rear. These worked really well in ensuring the Americas Tire installers placed their jacks in the right place and didn't touch the battery rails.

It's nice to have tires with tread and grip again!

Very Nice!

I’m still getting used to my Conti’s after six months on snow tires.

I do hope these last SIGNIFICANTLY longer for you!

The traction control will allow the tires to break loose a little. But if it detects much spin it will shut that tire down.
Do you have AWD? Because if you do, once the back tires break free, the front tires are what you’re driving with and they will pull the car back straight. This makes it pretty hard to actually lose control. So hopefully that reassures you.

Good choice on the tires. I didn't have good luck with the old DWS06 but the plus models are a major improvement. They have outstanding grip for the treadwear and all-season capabilities. Compared to the stock GT tires, they are much improved. I also found 37 psi to be the sweet spot on our cars.

Yikes... a GTPE on all seasons. I don't understand why you'd buy an $70k performance SUV then put all seasons on it instead of buying a proper set of performance tires. Do you not plan to drive in a spirited manner anymore? I had a set of those Conti's on my 400HP Subaru and great handling went right out the window. I yanked those Contis right back off. I hope that you have better luck than I did.

The DWS06+ are not the same as the prior models. The sidewall is significantly beefier and handling is much improved.

There is no safe situation on the street where these tires are anything less than stellar.

Haven't driven them much yet but grip has been really good so far. Not tracking the car but didn't like the durability of the pirellis at all

Very nice. I'm glad to hear that they improved the marshmallow sidewalls. ?
