Serious question. Not intending be negative, just curious. Those with FDRS can see a significant backlog of updates for cars, so clearly there are updates that we can benefit from. Why is it taking so long to get these pushed out? Would be awesome if someone from Ford could provide some guidance, I promise not to tell anyone ;).

Well, they're deploying in batches and only proceed to deploy a new batch if the previous one went well. I'd assume they saw/are seeing some hiccups with EA members getting the BlueCruise updates and are working out correcting them before more widespread deployment.

A large amount of cars (mostly job 1) are unable to receive updates and need to come to dealership to perform alternative update procedure.

Don't know if "large amount" is right or not, but it's irrelevant as to the timing of OTA updates. I have 2.3, I've had it since mid-February, and received nothing since, which is apparently due to the initial EA rollout of BlueCruise updates having issues per this forum.

Went for state inspection yesterday. Asked for any and all available updates. They said none were available. Nada. Zilch. Zero. Nix. Of course they could be lying to me. ?

I question the believe that "clearly there are updates that we can benefit from" concept.
Usually the updates are VIN specific so only those vehicles with issues would benefit from a specific update. For example, when I look up my brother's car and his brother-in-law's car, there are no updates listed for their VINs. My car only has the 21P22 listed and that isn't even an over-the-air update anyway.....it has to be cable installed.

So not every car needs updating. If you aren't having any issues then it sounds like your car might be doing okay.

Or your car could have an issue that’s corrected in an update, it just hasn’t shown up yet. They should be proactive so people don’t get stranded.

Whether your vehicle is eligible for a dealer-provided update or not is NOT the same thing as to whether there are modules that COULD be updated.

Thanks for the clarification

I had 2.3 once... Then Ford decided I didn't need it so they downgraded it to 2.1.

It wasn't my intent to start a discussion around whether updates exist. There are plenty of threads here where the kind folks with FDRS are able to see that there are updates available for many of our cars. There are also plenty of folks here who's cars don't have BlueCruise, which we also know exists. Whether updates show up for your, or your brother's car, isn't really relevant because it doesn't invalidate the general truth around the statement that updates exist, and they are beneficial (i.e. the update wouldn't exist if it wasn't beneficial, even if only in edge cases).

For e.g., I have not received the charge curve update. The existence of this update has been confirmed, and while some might disagree around the benefit of that update; it is my opinion that it would be very useful to me on road trips. Several of which, I have planned this summer.

I'm not trying to be rude, I just don't understand why it was necessary to dismiss something so obviously true with anecdotal evidence. I'm not claiming my car is broken, just trying to understand why there's a queue of updates that haven't been pushed.

There might be very good reasons for it, like the need to get it right in a phased rollout. Or the same team that manages/monitors Mach-E OTA is currently heads down on the F150 project.

There has to be a reasonable line of demarcation though. It isn't practical to repaint a vehicle just because it might have a primer adhesion problem that just hasn't shown up yet. All vehicles are expected to be defect free when they leave the factory. If that is the case then correct issues as they present themselves. No need to fix what isn't broke.

That being said.....
This vehicle is the absolutely worst vehicle that I have ever owned in respect to diagnostic trouble codes. It trips codes daily....all day....at every drive yet nary a check engine light (or whatever it should be called for EVs). It really should have some way for the user to pull up the various systems on the Sync screen and sort the DTCs as well as pull up known SSMs, TSBs and campaigns.

I frequently state that my car works fine because I drive the crap out of it and it hadn't broke down yet but is it really a happy car? Sometimes I wonder. When I connect a scan tool, I see a laundry list of codes. Ford can see them too.

It does seem like the list of DTCs is reducing with each successful OTA and I guess that is cool but I stopped worrying about the codes because the car appears to function fine (as far as I know anyway). I am anal with all my electronically controlled cars, if any of them throw a code then I remedy it asap. I have to resist the urge to visit the dealer for each DTC the MME throws or else I will be there every day.

Shipping Defect free left the stable when software deployment became the norm, expected to ship and fix later just like video games now, which isn’t terrible as long as it works
