Is it a red flag for my dealership

Hello. I've read some people contacted their dealers to add park assist prep kit. I called my dealer to ask about this issue and they didnt know anything. I called Ford to ask them just to find out they cannot find my order with the 8 digit order number that is shown when i log in into my Ford account. They asked me for 4digit order number or my VIN number. I called back my dealership to ask them for the 4 digit order number and they told me that the 8 digit is reservation number and they cannot see my 4 digit order number. They also told me i dont have to worry about the prep kit and just to wait for production date.
I ordered online on 11/19/2021 Premium AWD SR.
Do you think they have some reason to hide this order number from me ? When i log into my Ford account i can see the status of the car and everything . I just wanna know if they are planning to screw me when the car is at the dealership.

Did you sign a Preview Order at the dealer? I circled the 4 digit code on my MME, 0897

No. Mine it looks like he printed from the website the summary. He wrote will be sold on MSRP if Ford dont change the MSRP price.

Does it say dealer confirmed with a check next to itnon your order page?

They should be able to give the 4 digit code.

Did you get an email from Ford when you ordered? Mine looked like this and got it the day I ordered and had my order number. If you only have a reservation number……… that may be bad news. You have to convert the reservation to an order. Post a screenshot of what you see on Ford.com.

You need the 4-digit code and vin to get this status flowchart.. It seems that the process isn’t universal. I did an online reservation that Ford assigned to the dealer. The dealer had me sign a Preview Order which showed the 4-digit code.

I’m in CT which doesn’t allow online sales of new cars. That may be why the reservations are given to a dealer. FYI, No new Tesla’s are delivered in CT. Tesla’s are reserved online but delivered in NY.

Did you get an email from Ford when you ordered? Mine looked like this and got it the day I ordered and had my order number. If you only have a reservation number……… that may be bad news. You have to convert the reservation to an order. Post a screenshot of what you see on Ford.com.

The good news is you definitely have one on order.

Maybe they ran out of 4 digit order numbers (which happens at 10,000) and switched to an 8 digit number?

Yes I understand but why ford cannot see my order and also if they dont add the prep kit i will wait forever for production date.

IIRC I could check my 4-digit order ID only after the production was scheduled so that my windows sticker was generated. It is just the 4-digit numbers on the windows sticker.

No. VIN has nothing to do with the 4 digit order number, which is on the DORA (Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement) that the dealer generates.

I have an order in the same status as you. Ask to talk to your dealer inventory manager or the like. They have the 4 digit code you need. While you are at it get the dealer code. With those two pieces of data. The ford chat feature can tell you if your order is “unscheduled-clean”
