Our original order (Placed July 13) finally arrived. This is our second Mach E - different dealer than our first Mach E - which was an amazing buying experience. Should have ordered this one from the first dealer.

The TLDR version: First - our sales guy was amazing. A young 20 year old, that had lots of energy, and was very helpful and did his best to make the buying experience a good one - despite his boss and paperwork issues. The finance person was very sweet as well, and easy to work with...but made several errors, that we had to point out and fix. The sales manager was the worst....and lied to us, and then when caught in his lie....still didn't back down. The general manager, was nice - and came out and thanked us for our purchase, and tried to smooth over the bad experience with the first manager. Jury is out but leaning "no" if I would purchase from this dealer again.

The long version:

Our sales associate called Thursday afternoon saying that our car was just taken off the truck...and was being detailed. This was a surprise as we were getting NO communication - except the emails from Ford, with the latest one being sent to us Thursday morning (same morning the car arrived), saying our car delivery was being delayed again - and wouldn't come until May 14th. Surprise!!! A good one....but we weren't ready (our fault)

My husband was out of town Thursday, so we arranged to come look at the car Friday. Showed up at the dealer at 4:15 (They're open until 8:00pm) , and took the car out for test drive. At this time, we weren't sure which of our other cars we were going to sell - or trade in - and really weren't sure we wanted to purchase this one yet. We thought we had time given the delay letter just received and an earlier delay letter saying the car would arrive in the second week of May.

After the test drive, we came back in, and told our sales person that we wanted to go home and think through the numbers and decide if we were going to trade in, or even buy the car. At this time, the sales guy said he needed to get his sales manager.

The manager came to the table, and said that he only had to hold the car for 72 hours for us...and then it was his to sell and implied that he was doing us a favor - allowing us to buy it. Remember, the car came off the truck yesterday. I told him that we just got the call yesterday afternoon....so it had only been 24 hours. He said....but the car had been at the dealer for 72 - which was a lie....and our sales person - standing right there told him. "Yeah, I called her as it was being taken off the truck, yesterday". The sales manager didn't even blink an eye and said that if we walked out, he was going to have the car sold either that evening or the next day. I reminded him that in his own words - we had 72 hours. This didn't phase him.......basically said that he had a waiting list for these cars, and if we wanted it....we had to purchase it right now......At this point, there was NO way I was not going to buy the car and allow him to sell it at a mark up - This dealer is known for this.

First hassle: So....we started the financing part.....We wanted to do Ford options - with 48 months - and 7500 miles. First set of paper work came back - regular Ford financing - higher interested rate - no incentive. I said that this wasn't Ford options, and had to go into our Ford account.....start the checkout process....and send the details to the finance so we could get the correct rate - and the incentive. Back to finance. Came back with the correct numbers this time.

Second hassle: As a current Ford owner, there is a $750 customer loyalty discount when you buy the Mach E. I knew this because I had gone through the checkout process online - and there is a place where Ford checks to see if there are any incentives for our purchase. Of course.....the dealer didn't see - or apply this discount. So again, I showed the numbers that Ford gave me on their site....and miraculously, finance found it on their end.

Third hassle: Finance paperwork came back, but on the purchase order, they had the wrong sales tax rate for my address.....adding almost $800 to the cost. We pointed it out....she did the math, and said we were correct...and had to reprint all the paperwork.

Forth hassle: She had the wrong mileage for the Ford options.....we wanted 7500 miles...she had 15,000 miles. At this point, we're getting tired....and just accepted it. I didn't do the math to figure out how much that error would cost - if really anything.....so....we got our keys, and walked out to the car.

The general manager came out while we were getting ready to leave, and thank us for our patience, and promised that if we needed anything, they would take care of us.

Overall, on a scale of 1-10, I would give the buying experience with this dealer - from start to finish - a 5/10.

Sales rep: 9/10
Finance: 6/10
Sales Manager: -100/10
General Manager: 8/10

Happy to be done with it.....and the car is in the stable with his sister.

Here's hoping your buying experience goes smoother.

Mind me asking what dealer? We live in Denver and currently own a Mach-E with a second on order. Not sure we are going to take the GT we've got on order but know we will want a bit of time to think about it. Getting nervous our dealer (Schomp) is going to play games... Thanks!

I bought my first one from Schomp - and that experience was amazing. This new one we ordered and bought was from Groove on Arapahoe.
