Do I have a bad module? Lots of random gremlins.

I love my mach-e but the list of annoyances/gremlins is getting a little large and since I dont see most of these talked about, i am starting to wonder if I have a bad module or something. My car was delivered 12/28/21 and was built in October I believe so its a Job 2 car.

These are the issues/gremlins:

  1. When I approach the car it makes a chattering noise for like 5-30 seconds. At first I thought it was the lock actuators locking and unlocking over and over but now I think maybe its something else.
  2. My auto high beams usually dont work until I drive 10-15 minutes. It seems worse when its cold out and better when its warm out. After some time has passed, it starts working perfectly so its not like the windshield is dirty or something like that. (i also have the known issue of the light switch dying)
  3. Almost every time I turn on my car my front wipers do a courtesy wipe and then the rear does when i put it in reverse, even though I have all courtesy wipe off and even though its bone dry and sun beating down, def no water or condensation. its already ruining my blades.
  4. My kick to open/close lift gate does not close with a kick. It opens with a kick 95% of the time correctly, but other than when I first got the car, it doesnt close with a kick moments later in the exact same way/spot. really frustrating.
  5. Randomly the car will pump out AC in cold (sub 50F) weather.
  6. Randomly the dashboard will get stuck on the charging screen even though I am driving. I have to turn off the car in the road and turn back on for it to go back and give me the speedo.
  7. Even with the key fob I have to press the unlock button many times sometimes ( i think this is "normal" though)
  8. Sometimes when I walk away with the FOB, it doesnt lock the car. I THINk it might be when I pass the normal lock range and my wife still hasnt closed her door, if so, they should really fix it so it locks when the last door is closed.
  9. Sometimes when it charges I hear the coolant pumping, is that normal? I was wondering if that meant my system was underfilled
  10. Randomly when I back up the 1 pedal drive doesnt work and I go flying when I expect the car to apply regen braking.

There are a few others but the system lost my "saved" draft I was working on for a week and I cant recall everything now. These are the main issues though, I also have the issues everyone else has with the slow dash response time, the messed up xm presets, if you have 2 presets same station it loops between them, my headlight switch dies and needs to be turned to come back, rear collision detection way too sensitive, etc.

There are some threads about the various noises when approaching the vehicle.

Regarding kick to open/close, I have 100% success on open and maybe 5% on close.

If you send me a DM with your VIN I can check to see if there is an IPC or other update which may address other gremlins but there shouldn't be one for Job 2's.

Kick to open/close used to work all of the time for me. When my car hit roughly 4 months of age it pretty much became a<2% thing (doesn’t matter if I have the key on me or if I am using PaaK). I got tired of looking like a fool playing hokey-pokey with my car, so now I just reach under and hit the button. ??

I have that too, and it's probably a pump or something. I haven't felt a need to be worried about it, since everything else seems to be working fine.

Have you tried... turning off your wipers?

Kick to close requires you to pause for about a half second with your foot under the bumper. It closes 100% of the time for me if I do that.

Are you referring to the unlock button on the fob or the door button? If you're talking about the door button, the first push unlocks the doors (mirrors unfold), and the second push opens it.

Auto-lock does have some instances when it doesn't lock, and your hypothesis is probably correct. That, and you have to make sure any PaaK devices or fobs aren't still in the car.

Yes, this is normal.

#3 is pretty much expected behavior. Any dust on the window over the camera can look like water vapor. Even glare from the sun can trick the camera. And the rear wiper going when you put it in reverse… that’s a setting you can turn off.

You also have the chattering sound? I definetly hear a pump sometimes too but the chattering is a bit different.

Have you tried... turning off your wipers?
Yes, and it doesnt do it then, but this is the 4th car i've owned with auto wipers and the other 3 I was able to always leave auto wiper on, if you have to manually turn it on and off that defeats most of the convience.

Thank you for this tip! I am excited to try it later today, I hope it works as well as kicking to the left of the license plate did for opening, that made a world of difference when someone gave me that tip.

How fast are you going? The auto high beams don't work at low speeds.
I'm stopped in that picture, so that would mean the picture is not a good example. However, when the issue happens when i start the car, it doesnt matter how fast I am going. I can drive my car through the same stretch of woods road right after i start the car and it wont work, then on my return trip 15 min later doing the same speed, same location, it works perfectly. it seems to me like something needs to warm up before it starts working since sometimes on nice warm days it starts working right away, but always take a long time on cold days.

Yup, and it happens when I'm just sitting in it sometimes while charging. Sounds like a relay sometimes, and my girlfriend also thought something was happening with the locks.

I've had three other modern Fords before, and I guess I never thought of leaving it on. I just assumed the first position in the stalk was "intermittent" rather than "auto". Maybe I'm just old... ?

Have you tried hitting the lock on the door pillar to see if it locks the doors before she closes her door? I've never tried that myself, so that'll be interesting to see!

I think most of the issues you've outlined here are just difference in behaviours compared to other cars. I admit I haven't owned many (fancy) cars before, so I don't have much to compare to when it comes to creature comforts ?.

You just reminded me of another glitch! That door lock embossed button on the pillar stopped working too! I can get it to work maybe one out of every 10 times I try it, if i hit it 10 times. When i first got the car it worked pretty consistently, I used it to avoid the walk away lock HONK that wakes up neighbors. They really need to add an option to confirm the lock when walking away with the backup beeper instead of the horn honk!

Anyone have the 90% fast charge yet? Been to the dealer twice (10K service and dead GT at 12K) and they say it is enabled but it is not.

Also anyone have the driver seat constantly slide to the most forward position when you open the driver door? No other memory is saved
