Hello,

I put my order in for my Mach E back in 12/4/21. It still doesn’t have a production date. The dealership had very little information for me, but what information I gathered from this forum and other sources online it doesn’t seem like I’ll be getting in for at least another 6 months. I got tired of waiting and yesterday I bought an Ioniq 5. I love the car so far and it is really quick. Anyway, I was wondering if I could turn lemons into lemonade buy selling my order to someone? Has anyone done this or have any info on that?
Thanks,

Justin

No.

You don't own the order - the dealer does.

You can get your deposit back and that's it.

You cannot. It says this in the terms you agreed to when placing the order.

You could buy the car and immediately sell it. In that case you and the buyer would both lose out on various tax advantages, making this an unattractive transaction at best.

I mean, if you're selling to a friend its unattractive, but if you're selling it private, you will still probably come out ahead, as people are paying MSRP or above on used MMEs even though they get no tax credit. It is insane!

Isn't it also true that you have to keep the EV for min amount of time to claim the fed tax credits?
