Can anyone tell me how much clearance is needed behind the liftgate? I am trying to plan out a new garage layout for when my car is finally delivered, and want to know if I have enough room to open the liftgate with the garage door closed. Or if I need to move some things around.

I can measure when I get home. In my garage I measured how much space the hatch needs to open, then drew a line on the floor at that distance from the door. So I know as long as I’m past that line, the hatch can open and not hit the door.

You know how to adjust the opening height too right?

About a foot, I just measured and I have 17 inches behind and the trunk has about 5-6 inches of extra clearance.

No problem, I actually use the camera every time I park and have a feel for his much I space I see behind me.

Now open garage door, open the liftgate half way, and see if it would have hit the garage door if it was closed. If not you’re good, if so you’ll need more room..

I have 2 patio blocks set as front wheel stops and drive until I tap them.

I just open the lift gate with the garage door closed and watch as it clears with about 6 inches to spare.

I parked the car in the perfect position to clear the door, then hung a ping pong ball on a string from the ceiling so that it rests on the windshield. Then when I pull into the garage, I pull in until the ball touches the windshield and I know I'm good.

I did 20 ½ inches, that is over estimating a little to be safe. I drew a line on my garage floor. I know as long as I can see that line on the 360 cam, I’m good.

Activating the camera takes too many screen interactions. I wish we could make it a default selection on the home screen...

I agree, like push and hold the volume knob instead of the calm screen.

Thankfully for me the front sensors start beeping about my lawn mower around that point and that activates the camera for me.

Before pulling into my garage, if the cameras haven't activated (they almost always do), I manually do so. Same with a parking space. One button would be nice.

I agree, but it also activates itself when you get close to an object, so as soon as I start to pull into the garage, it's close enough on one side to start the camera.

When I pull into my garage, I quickly shift to “R” and back to “D”. This activates the backup camera and I can see exactly where I’m at. You have to have the backup camera delay turned on or it will shut off as soon as you go back to “D”. I’ve gotten so used to doing this that it’s second nature - I don’t even think about it.

Hello. Are you saying that you can open the liftback all the way if you have 17 inches between the liftback and the closed garage door?
