I recently picked up my Mach E from the dealership, we have had it about 2 weeks now, and last night plugged in like normal. The charger is now stuck in the charge port. I have watched Bens video: to manually disengage the lock and did that and it's still stuck. We have a Grizzl-E charger which we have used for 10 months now for our PHEV, so I don't believe the charger is the issue.

Outside of calling Ford, anyone have any ideas of what we need to do to get it undone? Luckily, we have another car so my wife took that, and I work from home so not a huge issue, but can't unplug, so can't even drive it to a dealership if we wanted.

Just to be clear, I have pulled with quite a bit of force, but the whole area starts to move, and since it's plastic, the last thing I want to do is break the charger as then the car is useless until it's fixed.

Try the following (yes, you may have already done this):

1) Make sure you are squeezing the release handle, push in then pull out.
2) Push the unlock button next to the handle (not needed for Level 2 chargers, but you never know).
3) Try the unlock button on the Access Screen inside (same function as #2).
4) Use the manual release (page 164 in the manual). I didn't watch the video, that may say the same thing.

Yep, just did all 4 again. Still nothing. On a side note. The manual release cable is not very strong, it just broke off. So I guess I will still need a trip to the dealership to fix that.

I would take it to the dealership, especially if a brand new car. I think there were some bad charge ports.

Yea , the issue with that is they are going to have to tow it as I can't turn it on since the charge cable is connected. Which also means my charger is going with them to the dealership. I am waiting for the Ford Support to come online and am going to reach out to them and see what they say.

Have you done any research to see if the Grizzl-E may be the issue? I know you’ve used it for 10 months between your two cars, but it sounds like there’s an issue with the pin. If the pin is somehow stuck, that could be due to the Grizzl-E rather than the MME. Maybe it’s an issue others have had? I’m not familiar with that charger, just throwing out ideas since it sounds like you’re gonna be in for one heck of a headache if you have to disconnect everything and get a tow to the dealer. If you do need a tow, make sure the driver knows the proper tow points. It cannot be towed from the rear and tow truck drivers have caused $28,000 in damage to other people’s cars by hooking to the battery casing and essentially ripping the battery.

Oh man, this sucks, but I think if you can’t get the cable unhooked, you can open up the Grizzl-E and disconnect the entire cable from the wall unit, this should eliminate you having to figure out what to do with all the crap while it gets on a tow.

I feel for you. My Chargepoint handle got ice under the button and froze. I had to use a heat gun to undo. I agree, check with Grizzly. Sounds like it's there issue and they may have a fix. The Mach E does not lock onto a Level 2. The Level 2 handle does. Good luck and keep us posted. Also from the Taycan site....https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/grizzl-e-charger-got-stuck.5774/

Hi there. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.

Quick update. Reached out to dealership, they told me to go through Ford roadside assistance. Roadside assistance is setting up a tow to get the car to the dealership. Charger is still stuck, so gonna have to send that with it.

I checked the Grizzl-E charger connector, and it seems to be functioning correctly. I can feel the locking mechanism moving up and down when I push the button. So, I have no clue what it could be.

Wow this is really weird. Could it be the lock used for the DCFC connector?

Also, it sure if you saw my post about disconnecting the cable from the Grizzl-E unit, but that might save you sone trouble. Make sure it’s unplugged obviously

Yea, I am going to try to get that done. Worst case scenario I just send the whole unit with them since it's a plugged in charger rather than hardwired.

I got it out. Nothing wrong with the charge plug that I can see. I had to wedge some tweezers in there, and it somehow pushed it out. Definitely cancelling to tow, but still think I should have it looked at by Ford. I don't see anything wrong with charge port either so I have no idea how it got stuck.
