As the title goes, driver confused the brake and accelerator in the parking lot and car ended up bouncing in two different curbs. Hoping that the battery isn’t damaged. Waiting for the tow truck. ?? 1600 miles and 4 weeks in. :(
Both Passengers were safe.

My two cents. Maybe not confusing, but too close together. My fat sneaker soles sometimes hang up on the brake pedal when on the accelerator pedal. I could see it happening where my foot gets caught between the back of the brake and on the accelerator at the same time and this happening.

Needs to be addressed. FORD, are you reading this?

I really hate to say it, but what you say matches the experience of all my friends. They’ve all had to go through the phase of having “that discussion” with their parents and almost every parent has done this (or something very similar) more than once before they got the car keys. One parent managed to back through a guard rail and down a 5 foot embankment. Another parent was out driving at 2:30 AM (and no, they weren’t headed to “da club”) and forgot where they were. They just stopped their car in the road and got out to begin walking. Happily, officer friendly finished the donut run and happened to come by first.
That is sad and hilarious at the same time “da club” ha!

There's a setting to allow you to get hints about context should you want a hint about context existing.

I finally have a way of dealing with your nonsense! This isn't a home depot forum! ?

I tried 1PD mode. I didn't like it. To much foot work.
I find it nicer to do 1 pedal driving in L mode.

It seems obvious to me.... When learning 1PD you're actively trying to train yourself to *stop* using the brake pedal. Combine that with an "oh sh**" moment which triggers your "push foot hard!" reflex, and this is what you get.

Sure, not everyone is going to have that problem. But it seems easily possible for anyone (not just the elderly) to make that kind of reflexive mistake.
Not really, I view it more like engine braking. You can drive a manual transmission exactly like 1pd minus the brake hold if you like.
My only issue is I now expect 1PD slow down when driving anything electric but never when driving a gas vehicle…

A little of both, depending on the situation at hand
Side note- driving behind 2 pedal drivers can be frustrating and/or dangerous.

Too many rest their foot on the brake just enough so the brake lights are continuously on, but they aren’t braking.

So you can’t tell when they actually ARE braking.

As to if 1PD is to blame? Ask the OP. But this is the 2nd or 3rd thread for the Mach E where this happened, and I think all were 1PD.

Not enough data to be statistically significant though. Plenty of people do this is regular cars too.

OP could probably clarify what caused it pretty easily… but in the long run it’s just an accident. Did something wrong, thankfully no one was hurt.

To add to the speculation though…. I once went to back out of my garage and there was a tarp on the ground behind my MME. The tarp tripped the safety sensors and prevented me from moving until I pressed pretty hard on the accelerator, something similar could have happened to OP where he had pressed the accelerator to “inch” forward but car wouldn’t move due to curb tripping safety sensors and once the pedal was at override position it jumped forward.

Although I’m probably just talking to air because I think at least 3/4 of participants on this thread blocked me ?

Not really. There are a number of users of this forum that contribute nothing of value. On the very rare occasion I feel the need to establish context I can click to show ignored content and read their trash post.
I never knew blocked people could read posts?

Blocked means someone else blocked you from reading.

Ignore means you blocked them.

Either way you just have to log out to read everyone’s posts if you like.

AFAIK you can't block someone on this forum, you can only ignore them (but they still see what you post, only you no longer see what they post).

(Unless one is banned/deleted, then they are blocked from everyone seeing them)

I am not aware of a block option on this forum. Just ignore. When someone quotes an ignored user it looks like this:

There is also this button at the bottom of each page of a thread that contains ignored posts:
