For those who want data (since we all go to public online forums for detailed, peer reviewed hard data), I've only had one issue with it...

Before that it worked like a charm for about a year..

So.. it didn't explode on me 99.7% of the time...

Emmm...I've been using my portable charger mounted with the supplied bracket for a year now and have had zero issues. It's on it's own 48A circuit.

Always gets me to 85% by around midnight if I start at 7:00 PM.

I may swap it out for the Pro charger that comes with the Lightning when I get that though.

Mike
Same for me Mike. I have been using mine for 14 months - no issues.

Well we've been using ours as the shadow's only form of 'Juice'. connected to a 30 Amp three prong outlet with 8" adapter for just under 6,000 miles and 17 months.

No issues, always in the garage not in weather. Our biggest reason is as an early adopter, forgive me Focus BEV peeps, i wanted to ensure any issues would have few if any third party variables.

The Mobile Charger and our First Edition Mach have been close to perfect. I told the wife going in, remember the last all new redesigned vehicle (Honda Odyssey) and it's 'kinks and quirks' that come with these all new models; be patient.

So far the MachE has been wildly reliable beyond expectations. Not perfect, but pretty close!

I bought the Grizzl-e Classic one month before taking delivery of the car in March last year and it’s done me well. Price point and charging speed were the driving factors for purchase. Despite being a career technology professional, I didn’t see the benefit of the software enabled devices which had significant overlap with the capabilities provided in the Mach-e to justify the additional cost. And I use the mobile charger when we spend time in our second home.

Charging strategies will vary among us depending on our unique needs….daily commuter, leisure, or road tripper. I fall into the leisure/roadtrip demographic. So besides keeping the mobile charger in the car for backup in case an EA site is unexpectedly down and finding the nearest campground, I also purchased a TeslaTap Mini to expand my options. And going one step further, Modern Spare joins us for the drive between IL and AZ.

I was the same until I wasn't. 11 months went wonderfully for me. Got about 20 miles every hour. Suddenly I started getting amber error codes for reduced charging rate due to overheating. Happens about 5 minutes after plugging in, every single time.

Best part is it's almost impossible to get a replacement unit. Dealerships refuse to just replace it and insist it is software, but software updates won't install, so you're just in an endless loop. If mine completely fails I"m not sure what I'm going to do.

I would love to see the dealership tell you that you just need a software update to fix it lol. This is almost certainly what will eventually happen with mine that is overheating after being plugged in for 4 minutes, but Ford is doing everythign in their power to not replace it.

I installed an Emporia 48 amp charger for under a thousand dollars all in. IAM extremely happy with it. Normally I only charge at 40 amps
FYI a 48A charge needs a 60A circuit.

For the other guy who commented on the heavier cable being able to take more damage, wrong. Way wrong. It's heavier gauge wire in order to take the max rated amperage. While that makes the cable seem larger and less susceptible to damage due to its weight and seeming hardness, the larger size & weight is the result of thicker wires inside it. It's not any less susceptible to damage at all.

Sounds like an ad...
Nice try Grizzle reps!

Joking aside, I got myself a grizzle 30 amp, 10-30 plug from them and has been working flawless for the last 1.5 years on my Mach E. Very happy with their products.

And this was before people started realizing how bad the Mobil charger is, got lucky by buying one from day 1
Looking back, my original post does look like a commercial. ?

But believe me, I, in no way shape or form, work for or are associated with Grizzl-e. Just think it's a great charger for the price. Very robust.

(Oh, and for the "it's not a 'charger' it's an EVSE" people, yes we know. Calm down. Just common informal nomenclature)

I got the same avalanche edition, I have my Mach-E on order but my son just got a Jeep Wrangler 4xe and been charging with the Grizzl-e for about a month now everyday! No issues so far ! Wife’s got a model Y on order too so this equipment will be utilized quite a bit in the coming months !

Respectfully disagree. Heavier gauge wiring is much more challenging to sever, or at least it has been in my experience. Trying to cut into the wiring I used for my system with a pair of cutters was far more difficult than cutting, say, stereo wiring. Not saying all heavier wire is indestructible, just stands up to a little more abuse.

Ok, I'll just forget about everything I know as an electrician, then. Enjoy damaging your charging cable as much as you want, after comparing a heavy gauge #6 AWG (like for your stove) set of conductors to a #20 AWG pair of stereo wires. Do how you want.

Lots of other good EVSEs on the market to choose from. We've been using a Clipper Creek for 4-1/2 years, first with our Leaf, now with both the Leaf and Mach E. I've never even had to reset it after our periodic power glitches.
