I received OTA update 2.8.2 yesterday, 06-20-2022. According to the message from Ford, this installed Blue Cruise on my 2021 Premium ER RWD. I will try it out today.

If that means you're at Sync 358 now, don't be surprised if BC doesn't act like it's completely "baked". It usually takes OTA 2.8.3 to become one with the BC universe (at Sync 364 or 421).

Just sayin'...

Having done many updates using FDRS and also helping someone to BlueCruise updates with no issues, I don’t see how the dealers could be having so many problems if they are following the procedures exactly as written. I followed the step-by-step procedures for the BlueCruise updates and every single step went exactly as described. After the final step, the owner left for the test drive and it was working perfectly.

I suspect that the dealers with issues are victims of their own carelessness. Outdated FDRS software, using prior update procedures, not following procedures exactly as written, …

If the dealer is trying to cherry pick *only* the specific modules documented to be required for BlueCruise and ignore other FDRS updates (in an effort to do the minimum), I could see how that's not working out. Either because the documented minimum requirements have changed, or the document is incorrect.

I got to BlueCruise pretty smoothly using FDRS, but it took a few repeated runs and I was doing everything on the list that FDRS said was available for my VIN, until they all installed successfully.

The nuance of the steps for when you're allowed to remove the USB drive is not at all intuitive. I'm not sure I would have gotten past that part without hints from the forum posts by others.

Do the dealer bluecruise steps involve putting it on a battery tender? Because I noticed that it didn't look like the stuff in my frunk got rearranged... which could mean they lifted the whole piece out, my stuff and all, or it could mean that they didn't do that step and that's why it is failing.

I did notice that they keep charging the HVB every time they try to update bluecruise, so it made me wonder...

I'm sure the dealer procedures say to connect a 12V supply (a battery tender is not powerful enough).
Also, FDRS has a big warning message before starting any module update that says something like "Make sure you have connected an external power supply to 12V".

The HVB charging gets turned off as soon as FDRS is connected. I suppose you could leave the cable connected to the charge port, but its not going to draw any power or help keep the 12V up.

I think they were able to take your top and side funk panels off without touching the tub where your stuff was stored. Not sure though because I just drilled the holes instead of taking any panels off mine.

Is there a document that I can get that show the steps the tech should follow for the BC update.

I feel like this shouldn't make a difference but it is available: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10211949-0001.pdf

When the tech opens FDRS, they will be able to see if there is a new FDRS update. Not updating FDRS is likely one of the biggest issues.

They also have a very clear message where they log in which tells them not to use printed versions of the instructions and to go online to get the latest version of 21G01. I linked to the latest on NHTSA which is the second version but the tech may find an even newer one.

I've taken my car to the dealer 3 times to have them install the Blue Cruise update, the latest one being last week. All 3 times they took three days and failed. As a result I'm the "guinea pig" and they won't take in anyone else's car for BC update until they can figure out mine.

Last Friday, when I went to pick up the car, my service agent said that Ford will be sending a specialist to work on my car and that on Mondya he'd find out when my car would be on the specialist's calendar. I guess the specialist is very busy in our area (SoCal). I took the car home and will play the waiting game.

So, yesterday being Monday, I texted my agent to see what the schedule looked like and here was his response: "Update, okay so now they are saying to wait for a week or two due to they are coming out with another update to try and fix these issues. So hang tight yet again my friend ! "

It looks like I'm in for more of the wait.
Similar experience. I took my car in for the glass recalls back in early May. Decided what the heck I'll let them do the BC update as well. Being the dummy I am I never tested it out to see if it actually works until a couple weeks ago. Found it that not only is BC not working, my Lane Keep Assist is broken as well. Finally got around to contacting my dealer and was told they'll look into it. That was last Thursday. Also BC not showing up under My Connected Services.

Interesting thing is that I'm still stuck on 2.1 even though by the looks of it I have all of the updates installed (Sync 421). Is anyone else still stuck on 2.1?

They should just need to run the IPMA configuration and you should be good to go ... there is an SSM from I believe June 3 which addresses this.

The odd part about this is that Securialert shows that they didn't even open the frunk last time. How did they apply external 12v?

The obvious answer is they didn't, and that might be why it is failing. I'd turned that feature off but maybe I should turn it back on when it is in the shop...

If they updated everything in the car and you show bluecruise being active in your Ford Connected Services account online, try removing the car from FordPass and re adding it. Several of us on here had the issue where it wasn't working and it should have been, and doing this re synced the car with the Ford servers and it turned on for us.

I was told to do a master reset and remove from FP, but I've seen a couple others that just removed from FP and added back and it worked for them, so I probably didn't have to do the master reset.
