I'm a bit surprised by how reflective the screens appear to be. I was under the impression that they were to have treatment to mitigate that.

I see his point, but in my view, if I have a $50K transaction for a vehicle, I don't want to have everything I do in it monetized in some way, shape or form. I want to pay for it and be entitled to updates that can improve it from an operation and safety standpoint for that amount of money. I am getting subscription fatigue seeing as almost everything is going that way. It's one thing if I'm a corporation and have to consider OPEX and CAPEX for accounting and tax purposes for managing cash flow, but the average consumer doesn't operate this way. A PC to a car is an apple to an orange, IMHO.
Very good discussion you all are having here. I agree and understand all the various concerns that are presented. If I can add a bit for context though....

The data collected as we drive these vehicles is valuable information. Most valuable to Ford for their own use but also valuable to other entities like the public utility companies, traffic control departments and other public service agencies like street lighting, emergency services etc. None of those entities care about what we are doing individually.....they are interested in our action as a whole group.

In my Focus Electric. I subscribe to Sirius XM radio and pay a fee. I expect if Sirius is collecting any data from my usage then it should be kept private.
On the flip side....the modem in my car is connected to the cellular network and Ford doesn't charge me anything for that connection. I get the benefit of being able to control and communicate with my vehicle from my cell phone or laptop. Ford is picking up the cellular bill for that modem device in my car and in exchange, they get to keep whatever usage data they are collecting from my driving and charging habits. I am able to opt out. There is a screen that displays when I first connected my car to MyFordMobile and I had to agree to the terms. I could have said "No" but the benefits outweighed the small privacy concerns I have with how I use my vehicle. It's a balance at times.

Yes, I don't want to be monetized to death either. I hope I don't have to deal with a bunch of "suggestions" that are pushed to the screen in the MME when I drive by a store that I frequented before or the coffee shop etc. That would just bug me to no end. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

When I am using Waze, I am OK with the ads that come up when I'm stopped because I am getting a significant benefit without a direct fee. If I am using the Ford nav and similar popups happen when I'm at a light, I am OK with that, too. If I am NOT using the Nav in the MME, I will be very annoyed if it throws those same popups.

For the same reason I am just about done with MLB.tv; they have been throwing splitscreen ads up during the game, and that is just flat out unacceptable. Even though I am out of the home market of my favorite team, I may just find a way to listen to the game on the radio.

This might be a case in which buying the first gen will be better than later gens because I believe this where we might be headed. The big difference is that the auto industry is much more scrutinized and managed. Compared to the computer industry which there is no oversight. Microsoft makes the rules for their software. You want to use it here's the cost. I cant see the nhtsa letting the auto industry do this. Already like i mentioned in my other thread.
A car is supposed to be sold as a unit with no modifications done to the vehicle after it is accepted for sale by the NTSA. Anything after which affects the vehicle can be considered illegal. This is why some of those OTA updates are illegal. If a mass change is required it can only be done regarding safety in which they need to issue a recall.

There are a lot of certifications cars need to pass before being sold on the market.

They light up your eyes and face so that the infrared camera(s?) can perform gaze monitoring. This is part of the driver monitoring system.
And note that according to others who have seen it live, those infrared lights are only visible on cameras. They are invisible in person.

it could be an optical effect thing but the seats don't appear to be folded flat - I thought the Mach-E had fold-flat seats?

that sounds like a small thing, but it can be huge for certain scenarios.

I saw something sort of like that in a Doctor Who episode once.

I believe we’d previously heard they wouldn’t be completely flat. However, this is one of the rare pics where we do see the floor can be raised on the tabs for more of a flat cargo area than a sunken one.

I think it was confirmed a while back that they don't fold perfectly flat... The photo showing the slight angle is similar to what we've seen before.

I've been wondering if the front passenger seat folds completely forward. I'm guessing no since it's not in the specs?

Look at the height difference between the driver & passenger seat. Don't think anyone in the other thread getting their panties all bunched up need to worry about it.

At least in Cleveland, radio is better for baseball anyway.
