Would you buy a MME with a 6 speed manual shifter?

It should fall clean off, and Ford Accessories could provide aftermarket vise grips to attach to the splines!
Oh so you're the guy that bought my college car!

I’d also like mushroom topped power door lock switches on the top of each door sill that only locked that individual door and made a loud clicking sound. And they should modify PAAK to require that the keyblade be inserted into a slot in the car and turned before the driver’s door opened.

Oh! And instead of pushing a button to turn on the car, how about this - you put the keyblade into a slot in the dash and turn it to turn on the car! Wouldn’t that be cool!

This is a joke, right? I checked my calendar, and it’s the end of July, not the beginning of April, so I’m very, very confused.
Best reason I have heard for this is that some European countries have different licenses for manual and automatic transmissions. this vehicle would let people learn and test on a "manual" and get qualified for them. Useful in this transitional period while we still need people to be able to drive both.

If I can get a Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts, I am in!

I’m not sure I could see ford go to all that development effort for such a limited use case

Manuals used to be MUCH faster than automatics. That is no longer the case. Dual clutch automatics are far faster than manuals. I drive a 6 speed ice as my daily driver and love the experience. The Mache is a much different experience. Maybe a second speed range but definitely all automatic.

I didn’t start this Post as a joke. My old 5.0L was a stick. I just thought it would be cool to go thru the gears in an AWD Mach E with crazy torque, and be able to get an engine compression feel on regen when getting off the Go pedal. I see Toyota is putting a Patent on their design. Probably all you need in an EV is 2 speed, but the only thing that made me park the ICE, was the gas $., and like any motorcycle guy, 6 speed is just the gearbox of choice for me.

Seems like the article completely missed the fact that the Toyota “manual” is all electronics and there’s no actual transmission or clutch lol. 100% pointless.

Probably just patenting the idea so no one else can do it. I seriously doubt this ever makes it into a production car.

As much as I hate a CVT in an ICE, I bet it'd be great married to an electric motor. You could probably get to some crazy top speeds with the constant high torque. And you'd never be stuck in the Drone Zone.

There's just no need for a stick in an EV - you don't need to manage RPMs to stay in the power curve

A 6-4 downshift and stomp it is one of the great driving pleasures. With an EV, you don't need the downshift, you just stomp it. Different, but still great fun.
