After getting the SVS message, did you DCFC both times with the vehicle on? I am sort of assuming you left the vehicle on in fear of not being about to power back on after powering off.
I don't think you can actually charge with the ignition in the on position. I did keep accessory on, but that shouldn't matter. Before going into the DCFC nose first I stopped in a tow friendly parking spot both times, powered down and back on to test for contactor welding. Once that test passed I proceeded into the DCFC stall.

I have hired a number of software developers over the years and let me tell you - the worst are those who went to college for it just because they couldn't decide on what they wanted to do. The best were those fresh out of HS who had the drive and motivation to learn. I feel good about those techs.
<SNIP>
Ain’t that the truth. Although, one of the best software engineers I ever worked with was fresh off of a Finnish fishing boat (no lie, the guy came to the US after working a fishing boat in the North Atlantic). Most of the other guys that were really good were either high school dropouts or fresh out of HS. 🤪🐩

I’m gonna toast to your new HVBJB with a doughnut. I think you need to lay off the bacon Gouda sandwiches and Twinkies. 😱🤪

I'm going up to Monterey Car Week next weekend in my GTPE. I was planning to go up the Grapevine and cut across Pacheco Pass both ways. I usually take that route rather than taking the 101 to get up that way. Wish me luck.

BTW, my car started production on 4/20 and was deemed built on 6/17. I was one of the April GT builds that was held up for two months. So I have a Schrodinger's HVBJB. I have both the lean and the beefy HVBJB until we open up the box and know for sure. I hope I do not have to find out.
I am going to guess that your HVBJB is of the non habañero variety, just given the odds around your date of production commencement. 😱🐩

Took a trip through the adirondacks last weekend after getting my update. Purposefully tried to make mine fail but I do t have the speeds you folks in other places do.

That’s usually a fun drive dancing among the pinheads and nitwits that block you on those fantastic curves through the elevations. Add a few semis and it’s pole position II ..

Jes sayin. Sorry to hear…. and you had me at Los Banos. Nothing like the California desert for both beauty and amazingly creepy small towns. Quartzite and Baker come to mind💩

In California, and in most states, you are allowed to go well over the speed limit to overtake another vehicle as long as it's safe to do so.
Love to see that in the motor vehicle code of any state. Been driving 45 years and never heard this before.

In Minnesota, you get +10 MPH over the limit to pass on two-lane rural highways only. Doesn't apply to interstates or local roads however. The idea is to minimize the time in the oncoming lane while passing for safety.

That's one. But only 10 miles over, not Interstates.

Other limits. The speed limit is increased by 10 m.p.h. when passing on two-lane highways if posted at
55 m.p.h. or higher

Here's a couple more examples

https://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.61.425

https://leg.mt.gov/bills/mca/61/8/61-8-303.htm

And in California "reckless driving" is over 100mph. https://www.mit.edu/~jfc/laws.html

You are more than welcome to come to California to issue me a citation officer Rick. The point is, the HVBJB fried while driving the car. Since you're big on sending people to the owners manual can you please point out where in the manual it says not to exceed 80mph up a hill?

In California, and in most states, you are allowed to go well over the speed limit to overtake another vehicle as long as it's safe to do so. Also, in California it's rare to get pulled over unless you're 15-20 over the limit sustained while on the freeways. 83 was my passing speed, not my cruising. Watch the video. Going 70 on I-5 in the fast lane would be a death sentence.

I knew this comment was coming. My speed has nothing to do with the car not performing as it was marketed/manufactured to perform. Before I purchased a GTPE I watched videos of it on race tracks.

Please move to the right lane and stay there 🙂
Wow! No, Virginia has no such law and in fact states the opposite; you're not allowed to cross the speed limit to pass, regardless. That's really interesting!

Yeah, I knew you'd be expecting it, and like I said, not victim blaming. I'm just babying the hell out of mine because I'm scared to death of this given the lackluster state of the dealerships remotely close to me and their knowledge of MMEs.

Said nothing about you speeding, nor it causing the failure, nor the manual telling you not to do something. Only about the hyperbolic statement "In California, and in most states, you are allowed to go well over the speed limit to overtake another vehicle as long as it's safe to do so."

Probably caused by your reliance on PaaK...

There's also officer discretion. If someone cuts you off going under the speed limit and you explain that you momentarily exceed it to pass I would hope that most would be understanding.

Let's also not forget that In many states, including California, the law states that the duty of slower traffic to keep right applies "notwithstanding the prima facie speed limits."

I got a ticket for supposedly going 63 in a 60.

I say supposedly because my standalone GPS had me at 60 and the officer gave me the ticket on the basis I passed him and he wasn't speeding so I must have been.

Damn. Thank goodness for family!

I've been toying with the idea of taking the car on a good long hard drive with HVBJB-killer hills and DCFC charging stops......but without my wife. I figure it will either kill the HVBJB or if it doesn't maybe, just maybe, it'll mean my HVBJB is (somewhat) more robust. Honestly, I'm hoping for the former - especially since the latter would only mean that I'd still have to worry that it was just still a matter of time until............
Hmm you didn't finish that last sentence...
