IT’S OFFICIAL: MUSTANG MACH-E IS THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE MUSTANG FAMILY; RESERVE ONLINE STARTING SUNDAY, NOV. 17

Ford Mustang Mach-E "Mustang" Mach-E Confirmed! Reservations Open Nov 17th Starting with limited First Edition 1573729589956

DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 14, 2019 – Ford’s all-new, all-electric SUV will don the iconic pony badge and the name Mustang Mach-E when reservations for the vehicle open after it is revealed this Sunday.

The all-electric Mustang Mach-E will make its debut Nov. 17 at an event in Los Angeles that will be streamed on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Autohome (China). Special guest, actor Idris Elba, will help introduce the latest addition to the Mustang family. Immediately following the broadcast – which ends at approximately 6:30 p.m. PST (9:30 p.m. EST) – reservations will open for the Mustang Mach-E at Ford.com.

Customers can reserve their spot in line for the Mustang Mach-E by making a $500 refundable reservation deposit.1 Timing will be critical, especially for a limited First Edition, details of which will be announced as part of the Nov. 17 event.

Customers in the U.S. and Europe who wish to reserve a vehicle can select their desired specification of the Mustang Mach-E, create a Ford account, select their preferred Ford dealer, and enter their credit/debit card details and address.

Customers who reserve a vehicle will be able to finalize their configuration next year when the ordering window opens.

Reservation timing for China will be announced at a later date.

Learn more about the Mach-E name by watching this video.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Confirmed by Autoblog. Sure hope Ford knows what it's doing though they really have not disguised their intentions from the start. Not that the name will bother me much if the specs are there to back it up.

Reveal will start at 9:30pm, ET.

$500 deposit to get in line for one with ordering banks opening next year.

I’m curious if any reservations will be filled by Ford directly or the preferred dealership you select during the reservation process. My fear is that some, including me, may get stuck with a dealer who wants to add a $10k ADM at the last minute. At that point it’s either suck it up and pay it, or forfeit your reservation. However, if it’s filled by Ford, I would imagine everyone pays MSRP and that’s that.

If it's like what was done for the C8 Corvette, you basically are buying a spot on a dealer list. The purchase details and pricing would be handled by the selling dealership.

I am disappointed in the "Mustang" name being used, not the vehicle itself. Depending on pricing and availability, it could be a first foray for me into an electric but I am going to have to overcome the "breaking of the brand promise" with the name.

I'll throw my deposit down on Sunday. Interested what's different about the first editions.

When did Ford promise they wouldn’t build out the Mustang brand?
Not to get into a huge philosophical debate about this, this is about the heritage and legacy of that heritage for "fast, affordable, fun, and freedom", which I connect to a car not an SUV. That is an implied brand promise, in my opinion. However, time marches on, and I am genuinely curious about this vehicle, otherwise I wouldn't have joined the forum here :)

There’s that “limited-quantity First Edition” line again. I’m not sure I want/need the First Edition . . . it probably just includes a fancy placard on the dash for collectors. I’m far from car collecting now, but I might regret it in 30 years.

Not going to lie, I really want to join a mustang owner's club after this. I feel like that would be a worthy troll.
Hmmmm...I am already a member of a Mustang club. :) As long as I keep the Mustang I should be safe. ;)

Sadly, I have to wait until October of 2021 before I can get one. That's when my Honda Clarity PHEV comes off lease but I will be supporting all the buyers here! Will test drive it a few times once they get on the lots late next year. Knowing my club, I suspect there will be few of Mach-E's joining up.

I figure for the most part they will be welcome (mainly because they'll be faster), but there's always those couple never gonna change types that are entertaining. I've kept my focus for far too long. 8 years of ownership coming up next month. I miss my performance cars, so this should be good.

I'm surprisingly ok with this I think. I half expected it anyway since it was going to wear the mustang logo in the grille. Just hope the Mach E comes with the performance and sporty dynamics/looks to do justice to the Mustang name. Some track lap times and a mid-3 second 0-60 mph would be nice things to hear when it gets revealed on Sunday.

Damn bold move by Ford using one of their most bankable names to kick off their full EV plan. Hope they know what they're doing

I'm not expecting special performance specs from the First Edition Mach E but hopefully it's at least a special limited color for the First Edition Mach E.

So much for the "last minute brand redesign" rumors about Ford taking the Mustang name off due to backlash.
