Several of you have complained about unwanted behaviors (ie vehicle rolling back 2 feet) and most of us though you were just fat-footing it. Turns out you probably just had this new “updated” brake mapping.
In an effort to make the vehicle feel more like a fusion than a mustang ford decided to smooth out the brakes. The vehicle now released all brakes slightly before the motor has enough power to move the vehicle.
In 1PD If you rest your foot on the brake pedal a little too much you’ll release the brakes and your car will start to free roll a bit. But this isn’t the biggest issue.
If you park on a steep incline, you have now lost any fine control when going in the direction of the slope because the vehicle no longer drags the brakes.
I have a steep driveway and I used to be able to inch backwards in reverse with 1PD which was great. Now the brakes fully release and the vehicle will roll backwards about 2-3ft before regen can get it stopped again. It rolls back at about half the speed compared to neutral.
It makes zero sense as to why ford would change this behavior on inclines. It worked fantastically before. I assume it made the vehicle more jerky when going against the slope and they changed it without thinking what would happen when going with the slope.
