So, I have done another road trip up the I5 and used BlueCruise a lot. The system itself is great but I got one big complaint. It reads sometimes speed limits for cars with trailers and trucks and applies them. So, essentially you are cruising in the left lane, speed limit set to 80 and distance to 3 bars and the car follows perfectly the car in front with reduced speed like 74 mph - then some speed limit sign (I have not figured out yet exactly which ones it mistakenly reads) shows 55. I set the cruise control to speed limit +10mph, but the result is still that the cruise control suddenly changes to 65mph and the car slows down drastically distance to the front car increases, drivers behind become aggressive.

It happens going up over the mountain to Grapevine at least twice and on the way back to Los Angeles about 20 miles back before Grapevine as well. There are other instances, but those are the ones I can recall for sure.

Please improve that @Ford Motor Company

Turn off speed sign recognition.
Guess that will work in this instance. But I guess than I lose the display of the currently active speed limit in the display permanently too?

I have to check how quick the setting can be changed - maybe turning it off for long distance highway driving because the recognition is unreliable and turn it back on when leaving the highway.... annoying workaround but it would do the job, I guess.

Improvement of the software would be nicer tho

You don't lose the speed limit display on the IPC. That is separate from the speed sign recognition that is part of the BlueCruise/ACC.

Oh, and wait until you're in a lane further right and it sees a 15 MPH exit recommended speed limit sign! ??

LMAO, that would be horrible
It was. I thought I'd turned off speed sign recognition, but there are multiple of them. There's the thing that makes the IPC speed sign flash when you're speeding, and there's the slow you down inappropriately thing when you're using AAC/BC. I'd turned off the wrong one.

I was an early adopter for the '21 F150 with adaptive+speed sign (was called "intelligent" cruise then) and had to turn it off day1 due to the "California problem".

On freeways we have a regular speed limit, then often the truck speed limit sign follows in a few hundred feet, like this:

I don't care how good the text recognition software is, it will only be as good as its pre-programmed vocabulary and all the possible road signs with numbers on various shapes or colors.

You don't lose the speed limit indicator in the cluster, which is a feature I love. But I do not need the truck adjusting speed for me! It was an interesting one-day experiment only.

Also made sure it was off in the MME on first day, but the default was already off (now called "speed sign recognition")

There is only one setting for speed sign recognition. The other setting is for IF you let it recognize signs, what speed do you want it to set to. If you turn off the recognition setting, you're all set.

Here are the relevant sections of the 2022 owner's manual. It's really a bit of a mess. The manual talks about "Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control", "Speed Sign Recognition", "and "Speed Limit Assist" while the (AFAIK most) current version of SYNC has "Speed Sign Recognition", "and "Speed Limit Assist", each which have their own tolerance settings. One might think (as I did) that turning off "Speed Limit Assist" would be what turns off the brake-erroneously-when-it-sees-an-exit-speed-limit-sign setting, but that won't work. And looking in the manual won't help much either...

But yes you're right Rick, in the settings on the car the term "Speed Sign Recognition" is now only listed once.

A road I frequent has a speed limit of 40mph. It has two places with signs that say "Center lane, 15 mph". Basically a speed limit for the turn lane. It is a bit irritating when my car tries to lurch down to match that speed. But I really like the feature and am hesitant to turn it off.
