FE buyers: Would you have still purchased a "Collectors Edition" or a "Founders Edition" if that was the name instead of First Edition? With all the confusion about folks assuming FE vehicles meant delivered absolutely first, would a different name have made a difference? Would you have purchased a Premium instead?

In the UK FE's were said to be priority build, which I took to mean before any other models. Doesn't really matter to me, I haven't ordered one anyway.

I would have still bought it. At least until I found out the price difference was $3,600 instead of $1,600.

I changed my order from a Premium to FE (through MachDrop program) because I thought I would get the car sooner. I didn't care about the badging, the red brake calipers, and whatever else it has. Turns out, getting the car early was a bad assumption. On its face, the name "First Edition" would suggest the trim would be produced and delivered "First" (crazy concept, unless your some people in this forum I won't name). If the trim was called "Collectors Edition" or "Founders Edition", I would NOT have tried to change my order, unless Ford indicated we would receive them sooner. Otherwise, I would have kept my Premium order. As it stands now, I'm trying to cancel my MachDrop order and just stick with my Premium (week of 14 Dec build).

Let us know if your dealer gives you any problem trying to cancel. I may be following suit this week if I don't get a build date by Friday.

I've left about 15 messages with my dealer. As soon as he gets back from vacation, I'll let you know.
Glad to know I'm not the only one nagging my dealership. Haven't been told the sales manager isn't in (he's who had been handing the Mach-E stuff), but he hasn't responded to any messages. Feel a little bad calling each day, but I don't see why someone can't at least talk to me to see what I need/want.

Agreed! We're spending close to $60K on a vehicle they didn't have to do ANY work for....at least they could do is return an effin phone call. If I lived close to the dealer, I would just show up there.

I will be showing up by the end of the week to mine if I don't hear back by then. I just want my VIN and his opinions/options on some things.

You know, every year, Mazda always produces a limited (and usually numbered) run of Miata “Special Editions”. In addition to unique colors and trim (no choice on color/trim), Mazda usually throws in some special swag (when I bought my Y2K SE, I got a picnic set designed for it and a watch). I think ford sort of blew it by not having a hard cap of 3,000 FEs worldwide, and numbering them. Perhaps putting in a signature plate or something as well on the dash. I’d suggest that, going forward, they should continue to produce some kind of “limited edition” each year, with a very limited number made worldwide, special trim, etc, like the Miata special editions. Move the car further away from the perception of “oh, another electric SUV” (sheesh, I still can’t get over that Ford recording “Mustang-inspired electric car”! That person should be assigned to the NA fiesta re-launch or something ?) and towards a sports-type car with an electric drivetrain that just happens to be able to carry more than two adults and an overnight bag.

I would have absolutely kept my Premium order. The only reason I switched to FE during Machdrop (now known as the Machflop) was to get it sooner (in 2020 for an additional state tax credit that would have paid for the entire price difference... until they later made the price difference $3600).

I couldn't care less what they named it. It was entirely about delivery timing for me (where up until last week all info suggested FEs being first 3 weeks of MP2).

My dealer has been silent also...which makes me wonder if something is occurring in the background that we are not aware of and they are all staying quiet. hmm....

You give them too much credit. They're ignoring us because they have no answers either. Not only is big Ford keeping customers in the dark, it seems they aren't communicating with dealers either.

Agreed. Sometimes it feels like I'm the dealer informing my dealer of what is on the Mach E and what is happening with it. This Forum is fabulous for that, lol.

100% this. I really was just hoping for a quicker delivery mostly for tax purposes. I'm glad I can get Grabber Blue but I don't think it is worth the price difference.

I was hoping Ford would match the price drop they did on the Premium or maybe throw in the hands free upgrade (rumored at $1400).

I am waiting this week to see if I get a scheduled date. If it is only a couple of weeks difference, I'm still 50/50 if they both arrive in 2021. If it is a couple of months or more after my Premium, I'll just cancel the FE order.
