Yeah, Ford’s blended braking system isn’t the greatest. They’ve been tweaking the calibration, but the transition to friction brakes is still obvious to me. Iā€˜m not sure why since so many other brands have been able to make the transition imperceptible.
This is pretty strange, since my other car is a 2016 Ford Fusion Energi, and I've never noticed the transition from regen to friction, but in my MME, it is kind of abrupt and noticeable, right at the very end of braking.

I don't think it's the friction brakes suddenly kicking in, but it does feel like the stopping power abruptly increases and I have a hard time not having that bounce when coming to a full stop. I agree with one of the above comments - it's easier to stop smoothly with one-pedal driving.

I remember when I first got my Prius there was a bit of extra effort needed to have a smooth stop. No such issues when I had my Nissan Leaf, and getting a Pacifica Hybrid felt even easier. At first I thought maybe it was a vehicle weight issue, as the Mach-E is about 1,000 lbs heavier than my Leaf was, but the Pacifica Hybrid is about 100-200 lbs heavier than the Mach-E. I assume it's just the way Ford has tuned the brake response. The fact that one-pedal driving allows for a smooth response also makes the tuning of the brake pedal most likely cause.

The brake pedal, itself, may also contribute; the brake pedal feels extremely well-damped on the Pacifica Hybrid, and pretty stiff on the Mach-E by comparison. I don't think about it when braking but maybe it's also harder to make fine adjustments in pressure on the pedal.

It takes a little practice. Eventually you will learn to bring it to a full stop smoothly.
I had gotten pretty good at finessing it for the first year, but seems like recent OTAs made it 10x worse. Now there's lots of times where it grabs really hard at the last second, like hitting a brick wall a 2 MPH.
Really annoying.

So weird... I've never had an abrupt stop like that. Mine have been fine at slowing down and stopping since delivery, even through the multiple updates. I can't really discern the blend from regen to friction, except occasionally when I can hear some brake squeal.

I did have a very noticeable release sound/feeling when I'd tap the go pedal to resume from full stop... And that improved to where I barely notice it now, after the first OTA that claimed braking improvements. Also, the car used to roll forward a bit (or even backwards a bit) after coming to a complete stop w/ 1PD... Now it does that way way less often.

I wonder if the braking changes are more impactful to certain trims?

2021 Job 1, standard range, rear wheel drive, 1PD, mostly Whisper.

Same for me. Many times it's fine, but every 4th time or so it just does a phantom hard grab at the last second. I know it's not me accidentally jerking the pedal down suddenly.

I'm guessing the OTA only helped some modes (like 1PD) but not others. I know I use a more rare drive mode combo (Whisper + L gear), that they probably didn't test it for. But the OTA made it worse.

Actually it seemed like an OTA early this year did improve it a bit, but another in the last few months made it worse.

Sounds like it's fine on 1PD. I think it's only an issue when using the brake pedal.

Brakes have always worked fine for me. One pedal or two - no problems.

Looks like another one of those quirks that works fine on some cars but not on others.

For the most part mine's been on the good end of those, without some of the quirks others report. But not this one. Fortunately it's not a very consequential one. Just annoying.

Yes, My brake grabs at the very last second, worse if stopping on an incline or decline. There's absolutely nothing I can do to alleviate it. If I reduce the brake pressure to the bare minimum, the brake would shutter and squeal, its a no win situation.

I use 1PD and right at the very end before it comes to a complete stop, need to add a light touch to the accelerator so it does do a sudden jerk. Yes its not great but got use to it.

Is it just me or everyone is facing the same issue?

Have to be very careful to stop smoothly, otherwise it is like a sudden stop at the very end.
I very seldom use the braking system probably 95% of my stopping is using one pedal and just let do its thing

That's surprising. The brake transition in my wife's RAV4 Prime is completely imperceptible. I've tried to tell when it switches over to friction brakes, but I just can't. In the MME, if I look for it, I can tell every time.
My 2021 mache still lurches to a stop no matter how I try to make a smooth stop. I use whisper mode. Are they working on this problem?.
