It would be interesting to know what your dealer (or more specifically, whoever said this to you) defines as "installing."OK so clearly I caught more USA people than Canadians. I’m from in CANADA so it might be different for us.
A dash cam will work if you plug the power cable into the 12v lighter socket and place it on the dashboard--it doesn't even need to stick to the windshield.
Moving up from there, you can encounter such things as hardwiring via fuse tap, mirror tap, routing around airbags, pulling off panels, and I suppose a very aggressive install might splice into existing factory wiring. A clumsy, ambitious install can theoretically impact all manner of things in the process of routing wiring.
In all, a blanket statement that installing a dash cam will result in a voided warranty--which in itself is a pretty vague statement--is hard to take seriously.
