Yeah, if it's exactly what you want, you get it now instead of waiting for an order, you lose the possibility of the tax credit next year because of income caps but qualify for the full $7,500 this year, it seems like a decent deal to me.

I do wonder if they might budge a bit more off that ADM regardless of what they say.
I already talked them down from 15k markup to 9k, which is better than the 10k from a different dealer last weekend.

I was entertaining on selling my car soon after I purchased it when I ordered it back in Nov.. I was looking around 2 months ago to see what I would expect to receive and all looked great.

Fast forward two months and I love my car and I decided not to sell it.

In any event, out of curiosity I looked to see what I could maybe get for my car if I were to sell it now and most are around 5 k cheaper than 2 months ago.

Expensive cars and homes have gone down in the past two months and I don't see that changing direction any time soon. Interest rates will soon settle but that is what is dictating the market as of now.

IMO, people that pay ADM are going to regret it here soon along with people that paid over listing prices for new homes. In todays world, people are way too loose with their money and they throw it around like a drunken sailor. People that pay cash for stuff are much more wise with their purchases. They see it up front and it scares the hell out of them and therefore they choose to wait it out in many cases.

I have been around long enough to tell you this little piece of advice.

DON'T BUY CRAP AT INFLATED PRICES IF YOU DON'T NEED TO!!

Wait and your patience will be rewarded. Don't pay ADM and don't borrow a large amount on luxury cars.

I would venture to say that the used car market will soon fizzle out as production increases.

If you have a car that works, I would wait about another 6 months and there will be many used GT's that you will be able to choose from at a much lower price out the door. (tax credit or no tax credit)

I would say that if you are good with the numbers then go for it. Who cares what a bunch of randos on the internet think? ?‍♂?

Just buy the car and drive it like you stole it.

Ironically, if he takes your advice he is doing just that. ;)

I think it is wise to get a broad opinion and go from there. You do have a point but it is worth (9K in this situation) to at least ponder.

Personally, I am against ADM, but his own opinion of his position is certainly more important to him than my opinion and dog slobber. ??

Are you willing to travel outside of CA? I'm sure you can find a Mach E GT that starts with an ADM less than 15K and then work down even more, maybe to MSRP.

Traveling outside of CA is difficult as I'm very very busy at work. Another bonus is they're willing to deliver to me for free

That is like saying a buffet is free once I pay for it. ?

If you purchased a Mustang for less after the cost of shipping was factored in, your "out the door" price will in turn be cheaper.

It would be worth looking on the internet to see what the total cost would be in comparison.

It seems that the 2023’s are going to be produced a lot quicker than the 22’s. Think recession. If you need a vehicle asap, go for it, otherwise order a 23 at MSRP and wait a few months.

Or, all car prices go up another 10-15% over the next year (like they did this year) which is nearly certain in which case it's a wash. Producer costs are not going to retreat from their current pace of 8.5% any time soon.

Sorry, the $65K car of today will be in the mid 70's by the end of next year.

I hear possible train strike again too...If there is a strike, more delays again meaning less supply of like everything, including MME.

I assume OP has no 2022 order to convert to 2023 and would have to order 2023 prices anyways. A lot of people seemed to have already paid those prices so I don't find paying ADM as bad as it used to be for an on-lot 2022, but there is a lot of talk of supply issues now and slowing economy.

No one can predict what can happen nor know your exact situation. Safest is keep driving what folks own already if it was a pure $$ issue or just get the cheapest or some would say, walk, take the bus (LOL, that's just silly....prob get robbed shot right?), but sometimes, that's not enjoyable or possible.

If someone has $$ and wants to spend it, just do whatever makes you happy, but my TL:DR is ADM on 2022 that you get now with sure thing tax credit isn't as bad when compared to raised 2023 prices.

Our minds are stuck in our own purchases back in 2021/2022 paying $10k-$15k under MSRP so it's easy to think anything else is a bad deal. Unfortunately, not many people can get that now.

Look at Tesla buyers who bought the M3/MY for $10k-$20k less or full self driving for < $5k and folks are still ordering/buying those cars.

I don't think OP's case is as bad since 2023 prices have gone up a lot and 2023s aren't really that different from 2022s. With how production costs have gone up tons for everyone, I don't think folks buying 2023 prices at MSRP will be regretting it unless production costs massively decreases which seems unlikely or a massive recession hits. I don't think both of those will happen.

EVERY SINGLE EV maker has also raised prices. I think Audi raised prices of the Q4? was it (was in that inside EVs podcast) by like $8k or something?

Ford Lightning raised prices again for the base model to like $50k now? I think manufacturers are more likely to just not make EVs if they will lose tons of money rather than cut prices UNLESS, battery manufacturers cut prices which means massive recession or oversupply. Seems unlikely, but who knows.

Houses and used cars have definitely taken a hit, but housing market was so high that a slight pullback isn't stressing anyone who owned for some time I don't think.

How long have these used (or new) MMEs been sitting on dealer lots with the consumer fleece tax? If they've been sitting over a week or two, guess who's sweating in the office? The dealership mgmt.... It costs them financing every day a car sits unsold. Counter their ADM with something far more reasonable for both you and them. $9k over is fleecing the consumer and inflationary. My 4 cents.
