Had a road trip yesterday and could never get the plug and charge to go through on two different EA stations. Car kept saying charger failure, and the charger kept complaining about payment declined or something similar. I ended up going to a shell charger on the first try and had no choice but to turn off Plug and Charge and pay on the return trip.

I re-enabled it today and I'll give it another go on a charger near my house, but has anyone dealt with this before and know a quick way to fix it?

I called EA and was on hold for like 20 mins, while on hold is when I gave up, turned off plug and charge and payed with my card. The rep said he'd report it but that was about all he could do.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Turned off plug and charge and payed with credit card. Charger errored after 10 mins, does look like my credit card got charged either. I was able to get enough charge to get home. I saw there was a way to activate the charger through the Ford Pass App, may try that next time.

Tried again today at a charger near here same error.

My session yesterday was like $10 and I see a pending charge of $50 (likely the temp hold) so I'm guessing that will be charged fine after the actual charge goes through. Kind of sucks that I have 250kwh on my account that I can't use though.

EA has been having major network issues in the last few weeks due to an upgrade that apparently didn't go well.

You do NOT need to use Plug and Charge to use free hours. Simply activate the charger via the FordPass app.

How is this done? Every time I plug it in it just errors out and machine instructs me to unplug to start new session, car just says charger failure.

DO NOT PLUG IN.
Open FordPass.
Vehicle, Charging, Blue Oval Charge Network.
Click on View Chargers.
Find the location you want, click on it.
Find the charger you want, click SELECT.
Click ACTIVATE.
Plug in.

I'll try to remember next time, anytime I have to interact with the ford pass app I want to throw my phone right onto the highway since that thing is super clunky and slow.

Just wanted to drop by and give you props for these tips. This process worked flawlessly. I felt bad that they actually charged me the Kw's to my account though ?

Try this:

Use the EA app the same way - find and activate on the EA app, then plug in. If EA charging is still free then you scored. You’ll get free kw’s and you won’t have used up your Ford free kw’s which you can then save and use later after EA gets their network fixed and starts charging for it again.

We had some of the same problems, until today I used this same procedure and was able to use my free Ford charging.

Otherwise just plugging in errors out in payment declined and I have payment setup in my Ford wallet and tied to charging. So will put that on EA and wait for there network issues to hopefully clear up.

Should I be able to save a charging location however? I’d like to be able to set to 80% while fast charging. I can only save my home location and of course Mexico is there, where the car was built. Would I actually need to save each charger at that location as well then? I mean you’re likely at times to not get the same charger you saved at a particular station.

Thanks

I haven’t been able to enable plug in charge in the app for over a week now. Was able to activate the EA charger from the app though, so not really an issue. But annoying.

You cannot set a limit for a DC charger.
