I haven’t seen this covered elsewhere on this forum so I figured I would post about our Mach-E order and its delivery problems. We ordered in December 2021, car was built 7/25/22, shipped immediately from Mexico to KC and arrived at KC in early August. Then it has sat there ever since at ramp 6R. We contacted ford chat weekly since late August when our estimated delivery window changed from September to late October; each time we contact them they tell us it is coming next week. After missing their deadlines and pushing Ford, we were told that delivery is indefinitely delayed due to shipping issues with the shipper. We asked both our dealer and Ford if a different shipper can be used and got a canned response of ‘that’s a good question’ but no action on their part. We are located in Pittsburgh, PA. Has anyone else on this forum had a similar problem where Ford claims the shipper is delayed indefinitely? How is Ford going to produce 3 times as many EVs in 2 years if they can’t deliver the ones they are making now? Any work arounds? Is there someone else at Ford we should contact? Thanks.

Update: Thanks for your suggestions. We reached out to the dealer and the next day the car got moved to another ramp and now is estimated for delivery by early December (I'm guessing it was just coincidence though that the delay was lifted after contacting the dealer.)

I've said this before, but these things have wheels. They just need to drive them somewhere and pay the mileage difference.

I have seen Lightnings get stuck in Nevada at a rail depot recently and the logistics company (contracted by Ford) off loaded them, put them on transport trucks and had them delivered to the dealers (west coast).

Your dealer needs to look carefully and see what codes are associated with the delivery and the car at this point. It's quite possible that the car was damaged during the delivery to KC or while at the ramp. If so, they need to disclose whether it's sufficient enough to warrant a new order and they will need to assign it the highest priority.

Its not that simple. Vehicles need a certain amount of prep after shipping. Even if they had the logistics to prep the vehicles who is driving them hundreds of miles to the final destination? We have record low unemployment and the logistics infrastructure is at breaking point.

If I was waiting a year for a car and then told it would maybe be another year till I get it unless I came and picked it up, I'd be on a plane within a week.

The cars are on rail transporters in yards with no road access. Getting them off the train, prepped, charged and getting paperwork done is not viable.

Agree with this...you may not want to hear it, but it may be damaged. Happened to me in June but in my case I'm guessing it was after the changeover in KC because it was delivered when it clearly should not have been.

Good luck!

lol I didn't mean I'd hop the fence, there would be some sort of process to do this. clearly what's going on now isn't working. Think out of the box, geez.

You're getting bad information. My car came through Pittsburgh about a month ago, it was built late September and I've been driving it for 3 weeks. Unless there are some issues with the trucking company local to your area, someone has just dropped the ball on your car.

I'd camp out at the dealer, at least they have direct contact with Ford regional reps and can get someone on the phone that may actually be able to get something done.

You're not being realistic. If there is not enough staff/resources to complete transportation where are these resources coming from for your imaginary process?

You expect Ford to set up a remote sales office with facilities to charge and prep cars to fix a problem no one at Ford cares about. LMAO

Seems like it’s hit or miss. Mine was built week of 7/25/22 and the evening of 8/12 was already at my local dealership in Michigan. Go figure…
