I think it’s funny that in the last 2 years people have forgotten how to negotiate.

Asking price isn’t selling price.

That said, it’s December, and buying a car this month is worth $7500 more to many people than buying one next month. So if there is a car available now……. People should be willing to pay an ADM.
Isn't the difference $3750? The $7500 gets halved next month. Correct? Or am I missing something?

Negotiation is always an option.

Might be worth a drive to Idaho.
The problem is that negotiation isn’t actually an option for the reasons I indicated. A drive to Idaho means I’m paying thousands in taxes since Oregon doesn’t really have sales tax (although it does for vehicles, it’s only like $500 on a 50k car - before you get too excited, my state income tax is 9.9% and property taxes are high too). And that’s if I can find a dealer in Idaho, 7-8 hours away, that would give me MSRP on an order that would take 6-12 months. Again, I’m talking about making an order, not taking one off the lot, and it’s still not possible to avoid big ADM. Eventually it’ll come back to normal one way or another, but it’s still damaging to Ford’s brand to basically turn away current owners who are actively trying to buy new vehicles and stay with the company. Like I said, they’re looking at at least 1 new vehicle I would have purchased if I could have just convinced a dealer to let me order one at MSRP.

not sure how much longer dealers can expect to get the additional markup on these, especially with higher interest rates and the car sales slowdown, so I think it's pretty dumb if they don't negotiate or at least just mark it at MSRP
Yeah, as long as the price fixing shortage continues, ADM will continue.

Lol. This is insane. You think I’m making this up? Bingo. It’s a space white premium SR with no options.
"My" dealer has 2023MY MME posted on their web page (along with my 2022MY order). This is just one example. Call for availability. ;)

Yes, much addressed in other theads. There are two parts to "new" Fed tax credit, half for 'made in N. America" and half for "EV battery made in US". IRS has yet to issue guidance on latter but Ford MME certainly qualifies for former.

Not exactly. The car needs to be assembled in North America to qualify at all. From there, the first half of the tax credit has percentage requirements for the assembly of battery components. The other half has percentage requirements for the sourcing of the critical minerals in the battery.

The other part of the tax credit issue is that even if you qualify for half, it gets moved to next year's taxes. That can be a big deal for people ... for us, we planned to use the tax credit to help make the payments. Taking delivery in December (we expected September) actually helped us there. But as the days started ticking, we had serious conversations on whether or not we could take delivery if it moved to January, because not only would we be taking on a bigger payment (expected), the tax credit would get cut and would be delayed a year. It would really change the calculus on it.

I have to wonder how many dealers are going to have people walk away from orders starting Jan 1. I'm sure I wasn't alone and rethinking it. (Thank God it came in yesterday!)

Dealer I was in contact with emails to let me know they got a 2023 Premium in today. He didn’t specify if it’s extended range or not but did say I can have it for the low asking price of 69440.
Edit to add MSRP: 56275

I created this to help me show others at a couple of EV expositions what was available in the Mach-E lineup. Hope it helps.

Negotiations are always an option.

But to your other points. Unless it’s different in your state, sales tax is paid where the car is registered, not where it is purchased…… ie home.

I bought my last car (before Mach E) from a dealer 500 miles away. Did all paperwork on phone and email and paid $500 to have it shipped to my door.

Takes some work but saved me thousands.

The dealers are so happy that negotiation on price is about 90% dead, the stupid demand for everything has killed it. For now...

You tell a dealer to GTFO w a markup and they say, bye someone will buy it right now or in a few days. And someone does... So until that stops, adm wont

Its rediculious that 'nowadays' a good deal for certain cars IS msrp...

Every new car I have bought other than this was below invoice... By thousands, lol buying the mache for msrp hurt my soul haha
