You are correct. Since the cover is larger than the OEM dial, your screen protector won't fit over it. You can always take the dial cover off although it might take a bit of persuading. Never taken one off before but it is not glued on so should come off with some force and doubt it would ruin the OEM dial.

I placed the cover on the gear selector without the 3M ring to test fitment. It is for sure snug and was difficult to come off. I had to use plastic shims on both sides of the dial and wiggle it off. The volume control knob cover is pretty loose so that one would come off no problem.

That's interesting, because both of my silver knobs (delivered yesterday yay!) are loose and will definitely require the 3M tape to have any purchase to turn the knobs underneath.

By contrast, the AOSK version of these comes with very thin felt tape lining the knob that allows for multiple installation and removal and has the right amount of tension to grab onto the real knob.

AOSK included extra felt tape, but this was too thick to have the same effect on the 5SPURS knobs. So the 5SPURS knobs are slightly smaller in diameter than the AOSK ones, but still slightly too large to grab onto the knob itself.

I'm gonna do a video review comparing the knob sets this weekend .....

I got my volume, gear selector and headlight selector knobs yesterday. All three are loose and will require the tape. Will install them this weekend. The quality looks great. Cannot wait to install them.

The 5 SPURS covers were not designed to fit snug over the knobs like the AOSK ones do. While the gear shift cover does fit a little more snug than the volume cover, it can still easily be lifted off. They are designed to be used with the 3M sticky rings that come with them for a very solid, semi-permanent install where you would never have the cover fall off due to heat, cold or someone tugging on it. These covers have been used in Mustang's for 3 years (including mine) and have not had any issues coming loose after properly installed.

Wonder if electrical tape around the knob would make it tight enough to hold? I only worry about the volume knob damaging the screen if it needed to come off.

Electrical tape will not hold it on. The 3M sticky adhesive is not a glue. Just a gummy type adhesive that will hold the cover over the dial in place with no issues. It can be removed by pulling with some force just in one area then it will start to lift off. Not enough force to cause an issue with the OEM dial. From all of the covers Kevin has sold in the past few years, I really don't know more than a couple of people that took theirs off and it was to change colors.

Got mine tonight. Fit nicely and I only used part of the tape, if it does not hold up they included plenty of spare tape to reapply. Feels really firmly set with no wiggle and only about 30 percent of the ring taped. Love the look.

I have family in the U.K. and order stuff from Scotland routinely. I generally allow plenty of time for customs in the USA and then delivery through whichever service they use. It’ll get here when it gets here. Oddly it’s one of the few shipping items that I have an over abundance of patience with.
