I charged at an EA station last Saturday (Dec 10) and added 31 kWh to my MME but my account still shows 250 kWh both in my FP app and on my ford.com account. On the charger’s screen it said the charge was $6.31 with a discount of the same amount for a net cost of $0.00. My card wasn’t charged. Is it typical to see over a week delay in being debited?

Sometimes you get lucky and they are free due to tech glitches...
Thanks. I’ll take that kind of EA tech glitch over the other ones people report here!

You will not see a zero balance on the screen when you use free hours. EA has a paying customer, Ford. Ford pays them, Ford decrement your free hours.

You got free charging as likely did everyone at that charger.

Thanks Rick, but I don’t understand the connection between your first sentence, and your next few. What shows up on the EA screen after charging when you have enabled Plug and Charge (so just plugged in and it started charging) and you have free kWh in your Ford account?

Paid for by Ford.

As I recall.

Most of the EA chargers in my area have been in free mode for months. I had one session that said it was part of the ford network, but it never debited me anything. Given the poor state of the infrastructure, I've had more 'wins' than losses. I couldn't have the EV as my only vehicle given the coin flip that public chargers are.

In early Dec I drove from So Calif to So Utah. Eastbound (on a Thursday) we charged at 2 different EA stations (one in CA and one in NV) and neither charge was taken off our FordPass account. Westbound (on the following Sunday) we charged at the same 2 stations and both were charged to our FordPass account. Sometimes you just get lucky!

Plug and charge is just that, you just plug in the charger and it works. You don't have to use the app. Have you verified your ford charge network is showing when you log into ford's site on your services section?

I see the blue oval network in the charging section. I see plug and charge not turned on but when I slide the button on. It says loading but spins and spins. Do I need to be at station to turn it on??

You can turn plug and charge on from anywhere. You only turning it on it the app, which doesn’t require that you be at a station.

Autocharge + for EvGo, which is EvGo’s version of plug and charge requires that you visit a station once after you’ve set it up in the EvGo app.
