I realize most people on this forum are Ford fan-boys and I'll likely get blow back. But - people need to know what customers are dealing with - good and bad.
I ordered a 2022 Mach-E premium AWD ext battery on January 3, 2022. We're going on a year and my car is still not here. I feel like I've been a good and loyal customer, but apparently not. This would be my 4th Mach-E. I also have an order on a Lightning and a Raptor. Both $80k+ vehicles. I was an early adopter of the Mach-E with one of the first 2021 deliveries. I have also owned 2 other mach-es this year to tie me over that I had to purchase from dealerships from their available inventory. I expected to see my order in June of 2022. Sure, I realize everyone has seen supply and labor shortages. I've been patient and understanding up until now. I called Ford to check in on the order and they still don't know where it is. I asked if this would be a 2023 vehicle now that we're in the new year, and they said no. Then I posed the question; 'if I'm taking delivery of a '22 model year in 2023, do i get a model-year-end rebate because the vehicle is effectively a year old? They had no answer and said I had to take it up with the dealership. End message was: Ford doesn't care.
So let me get this straight - I have to pay $59k +tax for car that is a year old with a questionable tax credit that is already worth $52k? I'm cancelling all of my orders today.
I've owned several electric cars. Do yourself a favor and seriously look into the other brands. The Bolt EUV is probably the best value EV on the market right now....and you can actually get them. For the same price as the Mach-E, the Kia EV6 is a better vehicle (AWD wind w/tech pkg). Faster....longer range...significantly faster DCFC....better warranty. I've owned both of these other cars and am speaking from experience and not just running my mouth. My first Mach-E was a real problem (which i posted about here- https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...car-before-you-buy-it.4479/page-7#post-168028). Some of these problems were later recognized by Ford in over-the-air updates and by actually giving customers 2 keys instead of 1 because of how buggy the mobile key was. The last 2 I owned (2022 premium STD batt, and a later year 2021 prem AWD ext batt), we're better built but the technology still lacking.
If you love Ford and love the mustang - get a Mach-E. You will enjoy it. If you're new to EVs and have an open mind - go do your research. you will quickly realize buying the Mach-E is like buying an iPhone 11 in 2023 while still paying the price of a pro max 14.
