I'm pretty excited for my MME, which should arrive sometime in March, but I need to make sure it will work for my dog. These questions are for current MME owners who are also dog parents.
  • RAMPS. Does anyone use a ramp to load pups through the rear cargo? Any favorites/recommendations? Also, approx. how many inches is it from the ground to the bottom of the rear cargo opening?
  • CABIN CLIMATE. Are you currently able to keep the AC turned on while the car is parked and locked? (I know Ford is working on several pet-friendly features, including remote climate control, but no one seems to know when they will become available.)
  • WINDOWS. Do both the front and rear windows go all the way down?
Anything else a dog lover and prospective buyer should know about? Benefits? Hacks? Warnings?

Windows. Front all the way down. Back, mostly.

I’m a bit worried about claws going through the perforated seats, so I’ve been putting a blanket in the back seat whenever the pup is with me

I'm not a dog parent, but AOSK makes a cover for the back seat. AOSKonology for Mustang Mach-E Pet Seat Cover Accessories, Dog Back seat Cover Protector Compatible with 2021 2022 2023 Mustang Mach-E Interior Accessories https://a.co/d/iQncZWe

Yep, blanket on the rear seat is key. Also keep in mind if you lock them in with the car off, the alarm will sound when the interior sensors detect movement. There is an unresolved bug that has existed since the beginning that prevents us from turning off the interior motion sensors. I heard it will be fixed in the fall of 2020.

  • The back seats are at about a typical height for a car/crossover; my 65 pound dog has no trouble jumping in or out.
  • You can lock the car and leave it running, but there is a time limit (somewhere around 15 to 30 minutes IIRC).
  • The rear windows roll most of the way down. There is a "child lock" button on the drivers' armrest that locks out the rear window controls so a dog stepping on it doesn't change the window opening - I once had a dog stand on the window controls.
I bought the seat covers from Ford to protect the rear seats, although I also have a dog hammock in the back seat to keep my dog from trying to climb into the front.

I bought a small Kong brand dog bed and had another flat foam dog bed laying around - together, the flat foam + the small Kong beds, laid lengthwise, make a cozy nook in the front passenger footwell for my Boxer, who is on the small side as Boxers go. She curls up in there and lays her head on the front seat, which has a dog pad on it for her comfort. The opening (lower) side of the Kong bed faces the door.

She often sits on the seat pad to look at the road to take breaks from sleeping.

Those cheap yet useful squeezable plastic water bottles with a dog lapping bowl built into their spill-proof top are great for trips. I squeeze it for her when she needs a drink.

All this is easily yanked out to make space for a human passenger.

Wait, does your not ask you every time you shut off the car if you want to turn off motion sensors? Or if it does, they just stay on??

I use small steps for the dog to load her in the back. I don’t like dog hair in the back seat. I clip the leash to the car seat attachment.

@californiagirl @MellowJohnny @mkhuffman For the back seat get one of these. There are many similar ones. Don't impulse buy the first one you come across read reviews. Sorry don't trust the AOSK ones. This one by Meadowlark quality is very good. Keeps the hair from getting out and no claws scratching. Because of my seat color I washed it a couple of times in case of the dye color rubbing off onto the seat.

Why I didn't get the beige color instead of the black dunno. Probably didn't want to see the loose hair. But I can't see my dog sometimes. He doesn't seem stressed being black on black lol

You have to verify for yourself. It's been awhile but I believe it is the XL. I remember taking tape to measure the length of the back seat and I think it measured ~ 64". 54" .So its probably the XL-60" Standard size per their cut sheet.
