People need to understand that it isn't the government who is sucking Tesla's tits, but Tesla sucking the government's. Sure the government is likely encouraging the move, but the only reason Tesla is even considering opening up superchargers is because there's free government money on the line. So much of Elon's businesses are built on the back of taxpayer money.
Can't blame Tesla for going where the money is. Government is trying to level the playing field and create a standard that no charging company can currently say they meet. I personally think the standards the government has put forward are consumer-friendly initiatives that improve the charging experience for everyone, not just those who use the Tesla Supercharger network.

I completely understand why Tesla drivers would feel like Elon pulled the rug out from under them.
I don't. Tesla STILL outsells other EVs by far. It isn't our CCS cars that would flood the Tesla superchargers, it's all the new Teslas that are flooding Tesla superchargers.

Based on what, personal antidotal evidence, sorry, that's just a personal prejudice, like they say, feelings aren't facts. Often times we get what we give, I personally know many many Tesla owners who are some of the best people you want to meet, but, hey, thats just me.
I know Tesla owners who are full of themselves and think their car is better than others and like to poo-poo over anyone who doesn't buy a Tesla. Some understand the shortfalls of their Tesla and live with them. Then there's some that just their car as an appliance and aren't hellbent on making their car "perfect", and just need it to take them from A to B.

Some people are great, others are clowns. It usually has nothing to do with what car they drive.

100% agree.
My main point being that if there was no gov't money then Tesla wouldn't be doing this, not the other way around.

So 2 at each Supercharger location? Wow good luck using one of those.
Just saw another report that the requirement is 4 minimum per station. Hope that's correct. That's what most EA stations have now.

I don't think that will work (CCS adapter) - completely different protocols that requires an adapter with chips to power the conversion.
Isn't that what the 'Magic Dock' is? It's just an adapter that plugs into the Tesla plug.

Somewhat related - I also find it interesting that Teslas are already using CCS converters at Supercharger stations where both are available. Saw this while in LA last week, this was with plenty of Supercharger stalls still available. I assume more kWh speed was available on the CCS circuit or something, but I’m just guessing, would love to have someone weigh in who knows better than I do.

No clue what the charger in that picture is, but sometimes CCS chargers are cheaper than the SC rates. There's been an adapter out for a few months now that Tesla owners can purchase. And CCS chargers don't have the proprietary limitation that SCs do that lock out non-Teslas.

EA stations in my area are cheaper a lot of times than the Tesla SC's. Can be faster too if it is an old version of the supercharger and a new EA that works right away (unusual).

It's because supercharger kWh rates are usually higher than CCS.

Tesla will still have to adhere to the NEVI standards of a minimum of 4 x 150kW chargers. Just from the economies of scale you can easily imagine (but not guarantee) it'll be double that at each station.

That being said, we already know that Tesla will have a minimum of 50% CCS plugs at a few of their massive Superchargers in California. Listed below are the total number of stalls before the 50% is applied.

Baker (expansion) - 56 stalls
Willows - 100 stalls
Barstow - 100 stalls
Coalinga (expansion) - 164 stalls

This is going to be a $!htshow in my opinion.

90% of Tesla owners are pretentious/entitled around J1772 EVSEs as it is. Guarantee they will take the "magic dock" chargers first to block them from CCS vehicles, and/or pull other shenanigans.
You are absolutely right

Just drive by any mall when it's busy that has EA charging near the entrance. You're almost guaranteed to see one or more Teslas parked (not even plugged in).

Or go to r/teslamotors and the top comment responding to the article says "It’s already a sh*tshow when there’s a line, and it’s only going to get worse." I'm sure you know nice Tesla owners, but Tesla owners seem to agree. Kyle Conner's new video says the same.

This would be great for me. Living in Central NH where the nearest supercharging station is 50 miles away. I go by a Tesla charging station 5 miles from me. About 8 stalls and they are always empty except last summer in the tourist season. Love my MME since I'm retired but fast charging in NNE is a SShow unless you own a Tesla.
