Well, I'll agree with you there. I don't particularly like the e-tron looks-wise, but it's definitely not plain. As for the i-Pace, it's a Jaguar for heaven's sake. There's no such thing as a plain looking Jag.

I don't mind the looks of the Bolt at all. I like that it is a small car, which is not very available in the US any more. Admittedly, we all conceded as a family that our Leaf was ugly and that's ok. We named her Hippy which is quite apt to her dimensions.

I thought the iPace was really sharp when I saw one at a National Drive Electric event. Surprised me by how short it was (e.g. not tall; look at it next to the Bolt below).

The Bolt is a perfect vehicle for local driving. With a 102" wheelbase, not so much for even longer day trips. It was the first BEV that went 200 miles that didn't cost $100K. The fact there are now so many more vehicles that hit this milestone tells you how fast the technology is moving.

The funny thing is ford use to own Jaguar.
And during that time the Jaguars started looking like Fords! :)

Yeah I don't mind the looks of the Bolt either.

When I first got it I parked it next to our Escape to compare the lines. If the front windshield was a bit steeper it would have a longer hood like the Escape. Other than that I found them very similar.
To me the Bolt looks closer to the Ecosport. Stubbier front, and more downslope on the back. Although I think the Bolt still downslopes more, which is what I least like about it.

When we had ordered the Niro EV I had shown my wife a Bolt and she didn't like it at all and she fund it to small.

It has a 117" wheelbase so it's not short. The designers pushed the cabin forward to maximize cabin space, which I think was brilliant. I haven't driven one but have certainly seen them on the road, where they have a real planted look.

If it got 50 more miles of range and a $10K price cut it would be more competitive. Or 100 more miles of range. It's awkwardly priced and spec'd.

LOL Yeah I knew that would be mis-interpreted: by "short" I meant not tall or not high.

Wasn't talking about its length but its height.

Quite true. With sub-par range.

The better word might be "stout", not as in "fat" but as in "powerful". When you're next to it the iPace gives the impressive as being very substantial.

I'd have to see them together, but while the dimensions are the same, the MME has a longer hood which gives it a more traditional luxury look. Its designers also used the trick with the roof to make it look like a fastback.

I like the i-Pace look enough, and I did a test ride at the DC Auto Show, and holy crap, it's an impressive car. If the Mach-E was not a thing, it's very possible I'd have gotten one at the fire sale prices they got to. Hell, I looked at getting one earlier this year when I have a Mach-E on order.

Agreed. It was a cool test ride at the DC Auto Show. But it's not a Mustang :D
