I got a powertrain / reduced power error, and it turned out that they have to replace the oil pump.
I dropped my car off last Thursday, but it seems like the part is on backorder, and this service center has no car for rental. Some previous posts suggest this might take at most a month, or so. They said this replacement is covered by Ford's standard warranty, but that warranty only covers the cost of rental for up to 10 days, $40/day. I didn't expect it could take that long, so I initially rented a car for only 6 days.
What is the option if it ended up taking more than 10 days? Should I contact Ford directly to arrange some agreement on rental cars? For now, the service center has no estimate for the part, so I'm not sure how long I should rent a car. I don't have an extra warranty and I didn't add rental on my insurance.
