Thanks @rodbin. Would you mind sharing how you did the figures? Also, stupid question but I do I know if I am on a single phase or 3 phase?

I have had a couple of companies quoting Solis inverter & battery. Would you recommend Solis?
Hi It took me several hours to do the figures and do not have them to hand just work out what you think you will use charging your car overnight and your battery at 10 p then what you use during the day but try to equate what you get from solar during day Few people use all the power generated during the day and wind up selling it back to grid for 3p.
Another advantage with Intelligent is that you get a very detailed bill that gives you your usage every 30 minutes Personally if you have an EV a solar and battery system then having Intelligent is a no brainer that is if there are not the issues mentioned by Wonky_Donkey.The best way to tell if a property has a three phase supply is by looking at the electrical fuse (sometimes called electricity supply, service head, cut out). Typically a single phase will have one fuse and a three phase will have three 100amp fuses. Would I recommend Solis I would hesitate based on my experience NO but I do nt have experience of Tesla or any others Solis are the biggest replies to my problems sometimes come within days and some times weeks I know they are under considerable pressure because of the huge influx of Solar customers In my first post I recommended this company perhaps you missed this but I would strongly recommend you talk to them[email protected]

Thanks @rodbin. At the moment, I do not have solar and unlikely to have solar & battery for several weeks. So my immediate need is for charging my EV which is arriving on Wednesday. What I am not sure about is whether to switch to Intelligent now or stay on the Octopus Flexible tariff for now.

Where you say “Few people use all the power generated during the day and wind up selling it back to grid for 3p”, what exactly do you mean by this?

I have attached a photo of my meter. Can you tell if this is single or 3 phase?

Most of the problems I have experienced have been due to my having a 3 phase system Solar systems inverters and the apps do not seem to like 3 phase. The reference "Few people use all the power " During the day a lot of homes will not use all the solar produced surplus is stored in the battery but if it is fully charged any surplus will go back to the grid as a feed in tarrif which you will only get 3p for So if you have a 10KW battery you could save ÂŁ4.40 if you are paying 44p per kw whereas if you did not have a battery it would be sold back to the grid and for the 10 KW you would only get 33p.
Of course you have to calculate if this is going to pay back the high initial cost of the Battery. Further gains can be made if you charge the battery up at night with 10p electricity and then use it during the day saving 34p per kw.

Awesome email to receive today:

The smart scheduling behind Intelligent Octopus allows for even more flexibility – and like most smart tech, this gets better and more efficient as it gets bigger.

From midnight tonight, your Intelligent prices are dropping.

You don’t need to do anything; your new rates kick in from midnight (that’s 00:00 on Friday 21st April).

Your overnight price is dropping 25% to 7.5p / kWh (incl VAT).

Your day price is dropping to 40.92 p / kWh (incl VAT) – a 7% price cut on average.

Though the energy market is still in a precarious spot, wholesale prices are (in general) falling. If things continue on the same trend, it’s looking likely that energy prices for all tariffs, regardless of flexibility, will be able to drop below the government-subsidised rate from around July.

Now that OI off-peak rate has dropped by 25%, 10 pence down to 7,5 pence.
Is there any point in getting a solar installation ?

Depends on your usage patterns etc, I suspect if you use a lot during the day then it's still worth going solar.

I've just signed up to Intelligent Octopus, as my Octopus Go Faster has now ended.

I create a separate FordPass account, and linked that to my Mach-E, and use this to login to Intelligent, aka "SmartCar", so if it gets locked out, then it doesn't affect my main account.

I've disabled the smart charging anyways, just wanted to get the tariff, so I can charge up my solar batteries in the cheap rate :)

Is the FordPass account getting locked something to be wary of? We are getting our smartmeter fitted on 17th June and then going onto intelligent Octopus, so just trying to assimilate all the info!

What batteries do you have ? I have a solis system and found discharge for batteries erratic and some times remaining with a charge so not acting surplus from solar gain I have turned battery charge of now during hopeful longe spells of Sun

I am shortly coming to the end of my fixed tariff and pobably will move to Intelligent Octopus. I have a relaible dumb Rolec charger (with several spares) and do not wish to change it, unless I really must.
I understand the charging can be scheduled within the car and so IO should work OK assuming the GPS thinks I am at home. However this will limit lower rate price only in that night window.
I understand using the Octopus app may cause my account to be block (again). So probably will not use it or create a second FP account..
Has anything changed? Has any of the recent sw updates impacted anything ? Have I missed anything important?
