That's the predictive speed, which slows for the anticipated curve - not the speed limit. It's subtle when using two pedal, but abrupt and problematic for one pedal driving.
Predictive Speed doesn't exist with BlueCruise 1.0.

Similar issue on CA85 everyday... I had to adjust the sensitivity of speed limits (go up to +10 above limit) to avoid hard braking... But a problem nonetheless.

An open letter to @Ford Motor Company - If you're reading this, you're likely on the social media team, and aren't allowed to respond to this type of post. But I'm just trying to get some attention on this. So please pass this on internally!

I use BC with intelligent cruise control every day for my commute. For the most part it works very well, but there is a section of the interstate near my home that is incorrectly mapped. The speed limit is 70 MPH, but for a section near my house the internal map data shows 50MPH. The result is every time I pass that section of road, my car SLAMS on the brakes in the middle of the freeway to match the 50MPH speed limit. Then a few moments later, it sees the physical speed limit sign for 70MPH and speeds up again. Rather dangerous behavior if there's any amount of traffic.

The mapping data comes from Here technologies, not Ford. I submitted a map correction months ago, but it has been ignored and is continually "under review". I know I'm not the only one who has run into this issue.

True this is a problem "technically" caused by Here, and not Ford. But the buck has to stop somewhere, and this is a Ford product in the end. If there was an accident caused by this behavior that would be a Ford problem. So Ford. PLEASE fix it. Hold HERE accountable for map updates, or fix the data yourselves, as this is making YOU look bad.

Forum members. If you have had a similar issue write below! Let's get some attention and light on this issue!

PS - PLEASE do not say "Turn off intelligent CC". That's not the solution here. That's a just a band-aid. This feature is rock solid most of the time. So let's just get it the rest of the way there!

There is a section of AZ101 that has the same problem. Wish there was in car feedback to get maps updated.

Similar but different situation in Southern NH on 95, headed north just after the Hampton tolls. Its a 70mph zone, but then there is a 50mph sign, so the car hits the breaks. Speed of traffic never slows. In this case though something should be done, do I have submit this to National Highway Traffic to get that sign removed? Its a topic that will start popping up, and we should get these cases resolved before more cars start using this tech. Would be nice to have an easy way to report these, even an in car option to report (Speed Sign Assist error). If the company sees multiple complaints for the same area someone looks into it.
Just wondering why there would a 50 mph sign on a 70 mph zone. In reality that would mean the speed limit is 50. Doest matter wether traffic slows or not. If it is indeed 70 they need to remove the sign. The car has no way to know rhe speed limit is still 70 when there is a sign that says 50. How would anyone know speed limit is still 70 if sign says 50? Sounds like speed limit is 50 people just don't slow to 50 for whatever reason. Lots of places like that. Speed sign says one thing but traffic says another

I have to look closer next time I go through. The highway is splitting I think, and it is just after a toll, there is always a lot going on but no one slows down. But yeah lots of these type places were people all do whats natural vs posted signs. Self Driving is going to force us to reconcile these.

You were talking about the setting that automatically adjusts the set speed limit of the cruise control. That setting is now called Speed Sign Recognition under the Cruise Control settings. It used to be a separate Cruise Control setting called Intelligent Cruise Control.
Are you talking about different cars or the Mach E? As far as I know the name never changed on my 2021 Mach E. I remember messing with the setting the week I got the car.

The generic term “intelligent cruise control” that I have had on multiple other cars just slowed the car down based on the distance between you and the car in front of you, but none of those read speed signs or adjusted speed based on the sign or mapping.

Edit- just checked my settings and they are definitely two separate things:

This is what it used to look like. If you wanted it to automatically adjust the set speed of the cruise control, you had to select the Intelligent Cruise Control option.

Turn off speed recognition and your problem will be solved. What Ford should do (aside from better data about speed limits)is to give the option to simply WARN the driver that the speed limit has changed and let the driver decide what to do. Slamming on brakes is a very unsafe thing, whether the brake lights go on or not... (they do)

They do. But the warning can't be set to more than 5mph over the speed limit, and it only flashes in the IPC. Nothing audible.

Interesting, must have been a job 1 thing.

I’m glad they changed it. Intelligent cruise vs adaptive cruise is confusing.

I like having adaptive on and speed sign and speed limit off.

Same issue, but opposite along I-405 in WA. Every time I pass a certain section the car somehow things the speed limit goes from 60mph to 80mph and juices it!

The other thing to keep in mind about the speed limit displayed in the car is that it actually uses a combination of the camera seeing the signs, and the map data base. It will use the last observed sign (camera), but seems to have a timeout where it reverts to map data. I know this from my experiences with incorrect GPS locations (driving through a golf course or school zone when actually on a highway).

Also, if you are in a construction zone, if the temporary sign is on the right side of the road, the camera picks it up correctly. But if the temporary speed sign is on the left, it completely ignores it.

I have been driving from Exeter to Portsmouth for 10 years. It does not become a 70 mph zone until you cross into Maine. In fact, before Exit 3, it becomes a 55. Where are you seeing a 70 mph sign? I'll look for it today on my way into work.

Nothing to do with your issue I know but you got my attention because you are talking about my backyard ?

I’m honestly not sure why you would want the speed recognition / adjustment on. You can literally just turn that single item off and get all the other benefits of BlueCruise / ACC without dumb behavior like that.
I drive the route the OP is describing but my speed sign recognition is off. My personal choice of course. ACC and Blue Cruise work great for me. God can't wait for 1.2.
