I will not pay a subscription for something I already paid for.

This not only guarantees I'll never renew this on any car, but makes me re-consider Ford all together for future vehicles. I bought this car that was advertised with a set price for this feature and I was OK with that. Now before I even get to the end of my included time they've upped the price. It almost feels like false sales advertising.

I used to use it all the time until it broke. My dealer couldn't fix it. Another dealer however was able to fix it, great! Until a few months later it broke again, and same dealer had no luck, and told me they will contact me when the Ford engineers figure out a solution.

Soon they will charge a separate subscription for each part of the car. (and everything else in the world) It's getting ridiculous.

One more vote: no, I will not pay either $800/yr or $200/yr for hands-free BlueCruise (HFBC).

Although I have taken long road trips and plan to continue them, HFBC was only of very minor value, even on day-long trips on Interstates. Based on the sticker and other communications, there was no hint of subscription pricing until I had had the car over 6 months.

Finally, HFBC stopped working about 2 months ago, and is of such little value that I don't even want to take the time to take the car to the dealer and try to get it repaired.

Not a good look, Ford. This is not the way to treat customers to create brand loyalty. (And you are wasting a great opportunity, as a high percentage of MME customers are new to Ford.)

I think this deserves it's own new topic. Ford has decided to apply the 2023.5 BlueCruise pricing scheme to everyone (2021-2023's) seeking a renewal after their initial 3-year subscription expires. Source is this post in another topic:

BlueCruise New Price.png

As stated, things work a little differently for Job 1 2021 Mach-E's, which weren't delivered with functional BlueCruise. I believe they got a free 1-year trial starting when the feature was installed, and will have an opportunity to buy an additional 3 years for $600 to provide parity before the price goes up to $800/yr for subsequent renewals.

Obviously this is a huge increase from the previously stated $200/yr subscription rate. Everyone I've talked to is angry about this and no one wants to renew at that price (I agree). Ford likely feels the positive reviews of BlueCruise 1.2 in Consumer Reports and other media outlets (such as @OutofSpecKyle Hogback challenge) warrants a huge price increase to rival Tesla Enhanced Autopilot. I don't think it's worth anywhere close to $800/yr, BlueCruise 1.2 still has issues, constant dropouts on curves, very limited coverage, and uses outdated hardware (EyeQ4) designed in 2015. It is much less sophisticated than Tesla Enhanced Autopilot, which has many times more processing power and can automatically change lanes with no user input, take interchanges, and merge onto freeways.

I think an increase from $200/yr to $250/yr for BlueCruise 1.2 would be fair and reasonable, $800/yr is way too much for a Level 2 ADAS. Most people do not want to pay more than $20/month for it.

Using adaptive cruise control and lane centering gives you most of Blue Cruise. The hands free is a nice novelty but my driving gives me 15-30 minutes a week of that. Using BC I am still hyper vigilant, ready to take back control, because some idiot wants to change lanes into my spot multiple times a week. BC 1.2 lane positioning abilities might make me more comfortable. I have 2.5 years left on my “complimentary” BC. I would never pay 800 per year possibly not even 200. On long highway trips BC would relax arm tension and fatigue. That would make BC worthwhile at some price. Part of the fun of driving is steering. It appears that a bunch of execs try to justify their existence by coming up with new money making ideas. Most fail. Perhaps their thinking is that if they lose 2/3 of the 200 crowd by going to 800 they still make more $. The flaw is that many of the 2/3 may go elsewhere next time they buy. The mistake, IMO, is that everyone keeps comparing to Tesla. In 3 years they’re will be a ton of new entrants. Features competition will drive pricing. Many have said that they won’t buy GM if they actually getting rid of Car Play. I am one of those. There will never be a car that gives you every imagined feature but stop wanting to charge extra for the ones I’ve got and can live without.

So here's my take on this.

Currently Ford 'has" several 100's of thousands of 'subscribers' even if they are not paying they are reported on some line item somewhere and it affect stock value in some way.

1. Now lets say we need to write off a Imperial Shit Ton somehow. Well lets take the possible 100's of thousands of subscribers and 4x the amount of money we're going to 'lose' when they don't renew. Let's blame that on COVID somehow and lets get Uncle Sam to help out somehow.

2. Lets find a way to level our profits for the next 3 years, by 'losing' $800 x 100's of thousands. Then in 4 years we'll just include it in all cars because, well everyone else is...

It works for commercial rental properties, why not. If I have a building and I'm only getting X $'s, I'm going to raise my lease price 3 fold and push the leaser out. Then I'll write off my vacant building that's over inflated to cover my profits for a lower tax bracket.

Job 1 got the best deal.

free for over a year, then it’s $600 for 3
Years.
I'm not sure I could even justify that for how well it works. (Which has been discussed ad nauseam)

Granted, as I’ve personally tested, I can get the same result as 1.0 by simply using an off-center ankle weight to trick the hand nanny.
So is 1 lb enough weight?

Asking for a friend..

where is that message?
Came from another thread. But it’s from this forum , it was on page 21 (buried) but clearly deserved it’s own thread.

Anyone know the price for Bluecruise on other Ford products?

Wondering if we are the only ones getting hosed or if it affects other Ford and Lincoln products.

Volvo has it as well. My wife's friend is terrified to use it on her XC90.

Yeah not paying that price! Ill pay the 600 for 3 years then sell this car for a Tesla model Y. Tesla's basic autopilot is way better than bc.
