When my car is in cruise control mode the warning that I should keep my eyes on the road pops up repeatedly even when I’m looking straight ahead at the road. Ford keeps telling me there is no fix to the problem. I don’t know if the camera looking at my eyes needs adjusting or if the program is just too sensitive to minor head or eye movement. My useless dealer told me “just don’t use cruise contro.” Am I alone with this problem?

Are you wearing sunglasses? While the IR eye tracking systems are designed to see through sunglasses, some lenses block the IR light.

That’s an idea worth exploring. I don’t wear sunglasses but my prescription lenses do transition to a darker tint with bright sunlight.

Works with transitions lenses. If you have strong progressives it may distort your eyeball too much. Make sure the sensor pod above the wheel is pointed at your face, should look like this from your perspective:

When i dont wear my sunglasses i never get that alert to watch the road, when i do wear them i get that alert sometimes over and over here and there. I think it may have to do with just the right lighting hitting the lenses. I wear those mirrored sunglasses.

Yeah metallic coated mirror sunglasses don’t work.

It’s not just mirrored glasses. One of my wife’s pairs of sunglasses seem to generate lots of false alerts. Fortunately it hasn’t been a problem for any of mine.

Thanks. I think that will be helpful information.

Does this warning make a sound? I just ordered new polarized blue mirror sunglasses and am worried. I'll get my MME in July and will be bummed if this warning has sound.

Where I put my hands on the steering wheel can block the sensor too. No problems with sunglasses.

Regardless, at least for me, this is the single most annoying thing about the car.
Note where the panel is, right on the steering column. You cannot places your hands on the wheel between 10 and 2, i.e. driving with one hand at the top of the wheel. That's a big issue on the Mach-E for those that like to drive like that (Lightning doesn't have this issue).

Edit - picture is of a hand on the top of a steering wheel, NOT of a Mach-E.

I just find it’s overly sensitive to begin with. As I watch the road. I’m also looking in rear and side view mirrors to see what’s around me. Just looking at the side view mirror will trigger a warning for me.

Only after 5+ seconds. You shouldn't be looking in the mirror that long because you'll miss a lot of stuff out the front window in that time.
